Ever since Google Glass, Google’s uber-expensive computer spectacles that make people look like awkward-looking human robots, was unleashed on a few fortunate select individuals, we’ve seen our share of POV videos during sporting events that have given us unique perspectives we rarely have had access to in the past.

But never has it been used during actual live NFL activity. That is until Monday at Raiders training camp when Chris Kluwe wore a pair of Google Glass (Google Glasses?) and recorded some footage.

OK, yeah, he’s a punter. It’s not Denarius Moore running a deep post or Charles Woodson picking off a pass and taking it to the house or Darren McFadden running between the tackles and then spraining an ankle. But, even still, this is some fascinating footage you won’t get to find very often, until maybe the NFL invents Helmet Cam, or Apple, to compete with Google Glass, invents iBrain, a microchip that gets implanted in our brain stems (definitely get Apple Care protection with that).

Here’s Sebastian Janikowski taking some kicks with Glass on and then being told he looks like a Bond villain (uh, OK):

And returning a punt against a team of invisible people:

Rod Streater could emerge as Matt Flynn’s go-to receiver

Jerry McDonald of InsidetheBayArea.com believes wide receiver Rod Streater could end up becoming Matt Flynn’s go-to receiver this season. Rod Streater has been the most consistent player and could emerge as the go-to receiver for Flynn and Co. because they’re relatively certain he’ll come down with the ball. If Flynn is going to have any success this season, he’s going to...

Column: Terrelle Pryor is not that bright

Week Two: Terrelle Pryor is not that bright When you do something stupid as a college kid. You sorta have an out, or a  do over or something. In Terrelle Pryor’s case, he went from being a stud preparing for the NFL to a dud begging for mercy in the supplemental draft. Why? Because he did something stupid. Common sense would like us all to think that after you do something...

Terrelle Pryor worked with throwing mechanics coach during the offseason that trained Drew Brees, Tom Brady

Quarterback Terrelle Pryor told Raiders.com that he worked out with a throwing mechanics coach during the offseason that also worked with Tom Brady and Drew Brees. I went and worked out with a guy named Tom House. He’s [Tom] Brady and [Drew] Brees’… I’m sure you guys have heard of him, he’s a baseball pitcher. He’s a throwing mechanic freak. He breaks everything down...

McFadden looks forward to return to old system

Darren McFadden hopes that going downhill will be just the tonic to revive his career with the Oakland Raiders. Back in a familiar offense that suits his running style perfectly, McFadden is looking to bounce back from a disastrous 2012 campaign and return to the big-play back he was for the two years Hue Jackson ran the Raiders' offense. Oakland switched schemes after Jackson...

Raiders starting job is Matt Flynn’s to lose

We’ve already reported that Raiders quarterback Matt Flynn has looked like the top quarterback so far in training camp. The San Francisco Chronicle considers the Raiders starting job Flynn’s to lose right now, despite the fact that Terrelle Pryor has looked good so far in camp. Pryor may have the better arm and be more athletic, but the starting quarterback’s job is Matt...

Terrelle Pryor Says He ‘Never Knew How To Throw A Football’ Before

Oakland Raiders backup quarterback Terrelle Pryor picked a fine time to come out and admit a severe deficiency, just as the 2013 NFL season is getting underway. Pryor is as athletic, and gifted a player you’ll ever meet, but was never the strongest passer.  Pryor did his best to fix that deficiency, by hiring Tom House to be his quarterback coach this off-season. House’s claim...

Sifting through day 3 of Raiders training camp

A few thoughts about the Raiders training camp, trying to make sense of all the information that is generated every day: -It’s no big secret that the Raiders lack a true #1 wide receiver – someone who can take over a game and who requires opponents to plan their defense around covering him – but that doesn’t mean that they won’t be able to move the ball in the passing...

Radiers sign LB Omar Gaither

The Raiders on Monday agreed to a deal with free agent linebacker Omar Gaither. The team is currently banged up at the position with Miles Burris, Kaluka Maiava and Sio Moore among the linebackers dealing with injuries. Gaither was originally brought on in the second half of the season but was mostly ineffective starting at middle linebacker when Rolando McClain was busy being a...

The NFL from a kicker's perspective

Yesterday, the Vikings treated us to a first-person view of training camp thanks to Adrian Peterson's helmet camera. Now, thanks to one of our favorite players, Chris Kluwe, we can see the world of the NFL from a kicker's perspective. We know of three videos from the Raiders' kickers using Google's trendy eyewear, Google Glass. The first shows Kluwe punting...

He will begin serving the suspension tonight, and will not appeal. Video of the crotch...

Yankees bench Derek Jeter

Things have hit rock bottom in the Bronx.  In what should be a celebratory month of Derek Jeter‘s career (and potential final postseason appearance), the New York Yankees are just about out of options to make the playoffs.  One last option was exercised today.  Bench Derek Jeter.  Not demote him out of the number two spot.  Not give him a day of rest.  Benched.  The American...

After accepting a 25-game suspension for testing positive for Adderall, Chris Davis will be away from the Baltimore Orioles for the immediate future. That doesn’t necessarily mean Davis will be out of the news, however. On Monday, the Orioles first baseman found himself in a situation that required assistance, and he provided just that. Kaepernick on language flag: ‘I didn’t say anything’

Colin Kaepernick became the first player in NFL history to be flagged for using “inappropriate language” on Sunday night. The San Francisco 49ers quarterback was handed the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty after throwing an interception in the fourth quarter, and there was speculation that the flag was thrown because he used the N-word. Kaepernick said that […]

Jets' Mornhinweg says referee made error by calling timeout

The New York Jets could have made a game-tying touchdown in the match against the Packers, however, a timeout error of course made the situation complicated for the Jets, as usual. Report: Gruden thinks Cousins is a better fit for offense than RG3

Since he was hired as head coach of the Washington Redskins, Jay Gruden has remained committed to Robert Griffin III — at least publicly. Charles Woodson on Raiders after loss to Texans: 'We suck'

Oakland Raiders DB Charles Woodson was not in a good mood after the Raiders’ 30-14 loss to the Houston Texans on Sunday. The Raiders turned the ball over four times and didn’t scoring any points until the fourth quarter. And not to mention that DE J.J. Wyatt caught a touchdown pass against the Raiders defense as well. With the team now 0-2, Woodson is disappointed and wanted...
