Following a shooting spree by his step-grandfather Bills running back C.J. Spiller has been excused from the team to be with his family (Creidt: Rick Stewart/Getty Images) On Saturday, C.J. Spiller’s step-grandfather shot and killed two people while injuring two others before killing himself. That same day, Spiller and the Buffalo Bills took on the Washington Redskins in their third preseason game. Bills’ head coach Doug Marrone told BuffaloBills.com reporter Chris Brown, after the game that he believes Spiller was unaware of the incident before playing in Saturday’s game. “When asked if Spiller knew about any of the details of the event prior to the game, Marrone did not think his top running back had been fully informed about it. As far as I know he knew that there was something that happened personally, but we really didn’t have any information prior to the game,” said Marrone. “I was aware of the various media reports right after the game, but no one knows all the facts so I’m not going to comment at this time.” As a few days have passed since the shooting, Spiller has decided he needed to be with his family and was excused from the team earlier today. He will return to the team on Sunday. “I talked to him when we landed from the Washington game,” Marrone said, according to CBS Sports. “I obviously excused him to be able to go back and handle obviously what is a personal situation. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims as well as C.J. and his family in this situation. …We’re in communication just making sure that we’re there to support him.” While football is important, family is even more important. Spiller has definitely made the right decision to take some time to be with his family. The post C.J. Spiller leaves Buffalo Bills appeared first on DOWN & DISTANCE - Presented by Sports-Kings.

Russell Westbrook was very ‘confused’ by media after loss

Russell Westbrook enjoys dealing with the media about as much as Marshawn Lynch does, and the Oklahoma City Thunder star has not been shy about showing that this season.
