After last month’s BCS Championship Game, AJ McCarron fired up the ol’ twitter machine to defend himself and his girlfriend from unsolicited advances from several people, including, most notably, Arizona Cardinals DE Darnell Dockett.  McCarron got the better of that little spat, and it seems to have left a bad taste in Dockett’s mouth, as he was at it again Monday night.  This time, however, it wasn’t McCarron’s girlfriend Katherine Webb with whom Dockett was seeking to spend time, but McCarron himself.   As before, McCarron wasn’t going to let this slide, and engaged Dockett on the matter, and as before, ended up getting the better of Dockett.   That brings the tote board to McCarron 2, Dockett 0.  Maybe Dockett will learn his lesson this time, and leave well enough alone.  But probably not.

  • Who would ever want to play for a racist school like Alabama? Oklahoma forced ole Bear to recruit blacks and the bigoted ESPNmonopoly has hated the Sooners ever since. Look it up, lazy. Google a '60s Bryant team and see if you can find a black even on the equipment team. None.
  • I'm not an Alabama fan (go Buckeyes!), but your allegation of racism based on the composition of the team around 50 years ago is laughable. I didn't know Bear Bryant and won't comment on whether he was racist. However, thing is Bryant has been dead for decades and I've never heard a single thing that would make me think Nick Saben is racist in any way.
  • A racist school? You are an idiot. And you don't know Jack about 'Bama. Coach Bryant actually scheduled USC for a reason, to show the south how 'Bama needed to integrate in order to succeed or be left behind. Not Oklahoma, dimwit. How many African Americans have played for 'Bama since?
  • This makes little sense. I have little more than common knowledge on Bryant and will not pass judgement as such. 50 years ago is a big deal. It's no excuse for anyone at that time, but the demographics nationwide have drastically changed in football. Are there still racists? Yep. Do I believe an entire program recruits based on race? Not if they want to keep their jobs and win titles. Don't make assumptions.
  • Can we please stop throwing out the term racist all the time? Don't clowns you realize that the more you throw out that word the more it's diminshed when real racism occurs? I swear some people out there are just plain idiots. If you're judging the University of Alabama as being racist in 2013 because what happened 50-60 years ago then just say every school is racist since at one time none of them let blacks into the school. What a moron!
  • Yea, we can tell the entire world is racist against blacks in sports. What's your problem, a few white guys on a team someplace. Get F en real.
  • Let's see, Um, you must have a problem with a few White guys actually playing in pro sports. Yea, there are a few. Everybody is racist. WOW, Looks like the best players play and for the most part they are black, dumb ass.
  • John, obviously you are a race bater and have never been to the south or the U of A. Look up the facts on racial mix and you will find that THE UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA has more minorities than the high and mighty Harvard and Yale's and a lot of other schools. No okie ever force Bear to do anything. Talk about being a bigot, you are a classic example of an obtuse bigot. Bet you think ever Southern is racist and barefooted. If you cannot win an arguement with facts you scream racism.
  • your comment is not even relevant to the article. why would you even bring this up, this article mentioned nothing about race?? Bear Bryant and the Oklahoma Sooners?? When were the Sooners, or Bear Bryant ever mentioned in this article?? ... You're an idiot ...
  • The fact that you have to go back 50 years to support your racism charge with Alabama indicates that your claim are no longer true.
  • Duh! How about 3 National Championship Teams composed of more African American players than caucasions and a whole basketfull of first round draft picks. I mean really...this is a bit immature. You really need to get off the farm every now and then. I doubt Oklachoker ever forced "ole Bear" to do anything.
Maybe you should look at Bud Wilkerson's teams.
  • These guys have nothing better to do? Grow up already!
  • CHILDREN
  • What I think is that Dockett is a classless chump who needs to stop trying to bait Mccarron. McCarron & his lady have no need for a loud mouthed, classless chump like Dockett in their lives. Dockett is clearly large in terms of size and his mouth is clearly even larger. But, he's punie in terms of class. That's why I say move on little man - no one needs you or cares about your peety little baiting. I have no skin in this game and I don't even know you, But, I have known hundreds of loud mouthed bullies exactly like you very, very well. And, the world needs to put you in your place.
  • NEITHER of them have any class and only one of them will have an NFL career.
  • Dockett is the Sissy. Hey Dockett, the guy has the girl and you don't. What makes you think that she would go for a low lifer like you, not to mention his dumb ass approch. Mr. Dockett, I will box your ass any time,Btw, big boy, no rules, MMA style. Pleae respond and meet me in KC you sissy boy.
  • yeah u tell him.....and when he's done with u my brother wants to fight u next! (memo to tell brother)
  • Darnell Dockett sounds like he's jealous of everyone and persues fights cause he's not happy with his life. Grow up. Your acting like a child Dockett. Quit making problems for everyone else just because you have an unhappy life.
  • Hey JMC, How did U get race into this? Are U that weak?
  • dockett's is a punk....who cares what he wants or thinks!!!!
  • Dockett is a legend in his own mind!!!
  • What makes you say Dockett has no education? He went to FSU for college. He has just as much education as McCarron. Why didn't you say McCarron has no education? Hmm...
  • Hey you ugly a$$ POS dockett...leave the young couple alone..are you really so pathetic that you have to pick on a couple of kids. You started this whole thing by "asking out" another man girl. Typical black football player thinking they can get any white woman they want (yea I went there!!). Sorry loser there are at least some women out there have more class and self respect than to give idiots like you even the time of day let alone anything else. I applaud McCarron for standing up for his girl. Give it up already and go pick on someone on your own IQ level..a 2nd grader maybe.
  • Are..are you actually talking TO Dockett? You think he's listening,/reading this? LOL You're stupid. Your comment might also make a bit more sense if you knew what 'IQ' is.
  • Hey, don't insult second graders like that!
  • Yep John, history shows that we have a very racist past in the state of Alabama and God knows we have a long way to go. If you do your homework John you will actually discover that Bear knew the culture needed to change and in order to break the "Good Ol Boy" mentality that existed he brought John McKay and USC into Birmingham and they whipped our butt with his star running back who happended to be African American.
  • Dockett is apunk, jerk and a loser. Based on his track record or crime and stupidity, I suspect the Florida State Penitentiary will have a wing dedicated to him soon after his brief NFL career ends.
  • Who CARES? Why are we giving so much attention to college athletes anyway? They all seem to be good in college but very few excel at the pro level. This guy will be a dud just like Matt Leinart
  • And you are playing in the NFL right? And played at a high level in college that won the Nat. Championship. You are a winner.
  • All this started because because Musburger and Herbstreit could not keep their testosterone in check on national TV.
They should be ashamed and give apologies on national TV.

And Dockett...stop being a duecebag and grow up...your a complete idiot with no talent.
  • Hey Dockett...hitting on another man's lady? CLASSES "POS!" Didn't your mama and daddy teach you anything?
  • Not a Bama fan, but mad props to #10!
  • What a LOSER Dockett is
  • Cmon everyone Dockett and the Bama QB are obviously joking around, but I don't think the Bama QB wants to compare careers with Dockett. Dockett's a pretty good football player. He doesn't make the pro bowl that often because he plays the 3-4 DE and everyone knows the DE in that base defense doesn't get many sacks.
  • why the hell not---the only thing to compare is their College stats----how many times did FSU win the Nat Championship when Dockett was there???
  • Somebody should tell Dockett not to come to a battle of wits unarmed.
  • Just a bunch of N.W.A's putting each other on blast. Twitter is great. F%$king idiots.
  • I don't care who wins this one at all but I would love to see you tough guys that are calling Dockett out piss all over yourselves if he showed up at your house!!!! *****? Yeah okay
  • I hear Dockett is gay...

Drew Stanton likely out for the year, postseason included

A season that has been defined by surprising all-around team play and marred by injuries to multiple major contributors will pretty much end that way for the Arizona Cardinals. Regardless of whether Bruce Arians’ squad continues to surprise the NFL world in the playoffs, it appears that Ryan Lindley will be under center for the duration. Drew Stanton, who was called on to replace...

Belichick: Garoppolo has better understanding of NFL

It’s only right that three days after Christmas, the New England Patriots will get to play with their shiny new quarterback. Since Sunday’s matchup against the Buffalo Bills means nothing to the New England Patriots  — they’ve already clinched the No. 1 seed in the AFC — keeping their starters in the game for all four quarters seems like a ticking time bomb for injuries...

Curt Schilling gives Johnny Manziel advice on Twitter

Have you ever wondered what advice Curt Schilling would give to Johnny Manziel? No? Well, now we know anyway. The former Red Sox pitcher reached out unsolicited to Manziel on Twitter to give the Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback a bit of a Christmas gift. Some sage advice, if you will — at 1 o’clock on Christmas morning. @JManziel2 Didn't ask for it, but I'll throw it out...

The last time the Lions won in Green Bay

Mel Gray returned a fourth quarter punt 78 yards for a touchdown. Erik Kramer completed two touchdown passes to Robert Clark. The year was 1991, and the eventual NFC Central winning Detroit Lions held off Mike Tomczak and the Green Bay Packers 21-17 at Lambeau Field. Since that fateful December afternoon in Green Bay, the Packers have won 23 consecutive home games against Detroit...
