PLAYERS: Tim Tebow
TEAMS: New York Jets

Via This Given Sunday:

In the video above, you get a fine look at that awkward moment when ESPN analysts talk candidly about a player while on the air. The only catch was, as you saw, Hannah Storm and Mark Schlereth didn't realize they were on live.

While it's not that big of a deal, it is interesting to hear Schlereth's insight into the potential for Tim Tebow to switch from being a quarterback to being a tight end. The transcript is below.

Hannah Storm: The what?

Mark Schlereth: It's like a tight-end/h-back?

Storm: Oh yeaaaah. Well that's interesting.

Schlereth: But I'm going to tell you. I talked to a bunch of Broncos coaches who said 'I just don't know if he's a fluid enough athlete to go over and play tight end' ... they say he doesn't catch the ball naturally either

Storm: Well if that's the case. Oh. OK, OK. Sure, sure.

  • A big joke,needs to pray more.....
  • the man can play ball,he's got millions why don't you pray for that joke in the white house.
  • I heard no hating on Tebow. What I heard was the guy on the right saying "what if" Tebow switched to tight end and the uncertainty of his ability to catch the ball.

As for Hannah Storm, she was just pondering the thought.

Tebow should be playing half-back, a-la Paul Horning.
  • Mark has previously spoken about Tebow with almost a personal animosity toward him. Don't understand why.
  • there are numerous QBs in the NFL that really sucks,Why not let him play and shut the #### up!
  • Sounds like a black reporter wanted to "out" two white reporters whose job he is envious of...get a life brother.
  • Tim Tebow makes a great many in the sportsworld uncomfortable because he indirectly makes them feel guilty about the immoral lives (we all lead) they lead. So, there is some natural animosity towards Tim. A man just trying to earn a living doing what he wants to do. And he has the great gift of speaking his mind and actually living out what he believes. On tv, i.e. ESPN, there are four people that go out of their merry way to denounce him, Trent Dilfer, Chris Carter, Mark Schlereth and Steeler running back from the 80's, I forget his name, oh yea, Merril Hoge.
  • how is doubting Tebow a "mistake"?
  • Will this BS never end ?
  • When the networks get rid of all the "A"holes
  • Do know who leaks all this stuff out to the media... I dont have to tell you how they look! They smile in your face all the time they want to take your place! lol
  • Remarkable how many people have pegged Tebow as a "poor" QB when his record as a QB is pretty good. Oh wait...that is when coaches let Tebow play as a QB. When they make Tebow play as something else he isn't that good. Maybe Tebow should do start doing commentary on how well Schlereth does as an attorney. Oh wait...Schlereth isn't an attorney. Guess that makes him a lousy sportscaster. And, before you say that doesn't make any sense...I know! Now, go back and look at Tebow's record as a QB and explain why no one discusses his actual record as a QB. If you want to discuss Tebow's throwing style and why you believe this makes him a poor QB..back it up the conversation with stats not opinion.
  • The haters will never let up on Tim. I guess they wish they had a lion cage.
  • Give Tebow a shot at TE. He almost caught the ball with his helmet once.
  • Duhhhhhh Until you give him an honest chance, how can you judge him ... Trent Dilfer was an abomonation at Tampa, yet went on to win a super bowl when given a chance ....
  • It's Funny, Tebow can't throw,.. Tebow can't catch, Tebow can't run..... but yet he has been in the NFL for three years now..( and getting a big paycheck).. a lot of the ex-players and ESPN reporters wish they could say played in the NFL.. haters hate... I wish I was in the NFL making a big paycheck. I'll ride the bench with no problem... I'll be the teams biggest fan.
  • Animosity towards Tebow because he's moral? Does kneeling and pretending to pray in front of millions make him moral? I don't think so. Jesus said to get in your closet, but, my bet is Tebow's never muttered a silent prayer in his life. He's just a big Republican crybaby. They're all alike. Every one.
  • this is stupid.they didn't say anything derogatory about tim with the exception that he may not be able to play tight end or catch the ball.i personally can't see what the problem is.he can't do any worse than last year jax qb.after all the success he had in college and at den he deserves a chance.sportscasters that downplay him are dumb.the ones that are waiting for him to fail shouldn't even be broadcasters.sfo qb plays a similar game and look at the team around him?
  • Wow John, your logic is so remarkable! You must have voted for our leader of change that has done such a great job! By the way, how many silent prayers have you muttered?
  • the den fans seemed to accept and like him along with some players that became known because he brought their game up.who knew of decker and other players whose names escape me that are know well known now.i'm old enough to remember the bklyn dodgers where the fans loved the team and the announcers always said positive things on air and off.todays sportscasters seem to think it's their duty to beat up someone to keep their job.
  • John M. Conley...do your comments apply to RG III as well? Or are they only reserved for white QB Christians who openly profess their faith?
  • Tim Tebow WILL prove his critics wronng. Tim can RUN, he can PASS and he can kick your f&(*$ing aXXX.
LOOK what Tim accomplished @ Florida Gators. His T.E. Hernandez went to the Patriots. Maybe Billicheck will acquire Tebow and use him in the backfield like a fullback a "U"back or whatever.
Is the public BLIND to what Tim Tebow did against Urlacher & the Bears and Palomalu and the Steelers? He ran over, around and thru the defense. RUNNING. He runs like Larry Csonka. (If you don't know who Csonka is GOOGLE him.) We will see the true Tebow next season if he doesn't get a joke-of-a-coach like Rex Ryan.

Video: ESPN employees caught dissing Tebow

We all know that ESPN was all-Tebow, all the time, this past season. It began as soon as Denver traded the quarterback to the New York Jets. But while Tim Tebow was the directive from the ESPN producers, most ESPN talking heads stayed clear of ripping his play, unless that one person was Merril Hoge. It seems Tebow has become so ingrained in the employees at the company, they even...

Tebow training in Arizona with British Olympians

Tim Tebow isn't letting the fallout of his disappointing 2012 season with the New York Jets keep him from working towards recapturing his NFL career. After a season which the maligned quarterback completed only six passes, cracked his ribs and was passed up by Greg McElroy for the starting job — Tebow has been spotted working out at an Arizona community college without the...

Mark Schlereth and Hannah Storm doubt Tim Tebow’s future in ESPN gaffe (VIDEO)

I’m not sure if you have noticed ESPN’s insatiable crush on New York Jets special teams contributor Tim Tebow.  They have turned back the heat and stopped reporting when he sneezes and farts, but if he hocks a big enough loogie, they’ll break into regularly-scheduled programming.  During their Super Bowl over-analyzation Tuesday, the ESPN couldn’t help themselves from talkin’...

Former Jets GM talks Tebow trade

Former Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum, who was fired after the season, said the team's trade for Tim Tebow "didn't go as we had planned."

Jets kicking the tires on JaMarcus Russell?

You can't make this stuff up. The circus in the Big Apple keeps growing as it seems the New York Jets will never learn their lesson. The Tim Tebow experiment failed miserably, and while the Jets brain trust ponders what to do with the badly regressed Mark Sanchez, we get this quote from Conor Orr of The Star-Ledger: " More recently, after Tannenbaum was let go, members...

Former Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum takes fall for Tim Tebow trade

From the time it became obvious that Tim Tebow was not going to be a fit with the New York Jets, the media and fans have been looking for someone to blame. It seems fairly obvious that trading for Tebow wasn’t Rex Ryan’s idea, otherwise you would assume he would have given him a shot at some point during the course of the season. Last week, a report indicated the trade was ...

Former Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum admits he was behind Tim Tebow trade

Former New York Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum admitted on 660 WFAN that he was behind the Tim Tebow trade.  He was also honest with himself and said the trade didn’t work out. “It was my decision,” Tannenbaum said. ”Rex and I talked about it, and then we brought (former offensive coordinator) Tony Sparano into the mix. Obviously, Tony is a guy who has taken that...

Jets seek to continue comedy of errors at QB

After last offseason’s high profile acquisition of Tim Tebow failed to generate any spark in the offense (and tended to indicate that the decision makers in the organization had no idea what they were doing), the New York Jets once again find themselves looking for answers at the QB position in unlikely places.  Given that their salary cap situation is dire enough to consider...

Junior and Tebow...Poker Pals?

Proving you never know who you're going to see hanging out with who...keen-eyed Arizona Diamondbacks starter Daniel Hudson treated his nearly 19,000 followers with a bit of randomness Wednesday night. While it's unclear if they did any Super Bowl 47 betting or not, the duo did, obviously, chat it up while playing a little poker. And if you couldn't figure it out from Hudson...

Former Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum Says Tebow Trade Was A Bust

The Jets mess is in the midst of finally getting cleaned up, and the guy most responsible or the guy who took the fall for everything going bad in New York is finally speaking. Mike Tannenbaum was fired, blamed for the Jets failures, and as he told ESPN New York, that blame was warranted.  Tannenbaum in a classy move took the blame for the failed Tebow experiment. “I’m disappointed...

Tannenbaum: I was responsible for Tebow trade, Sanchez contract

Mike Tannenbaum spoke to reporters for the first time Tuesday since being fired by the New York Jets on New Year's Eve. The former Jets general manager — who was piloting the Jets front office while the team fell into disarray — broke his silence to discuss his perceived failures on Super Bowl Radio Row in New Orleans yesterday. Tannenbaum didn't shy away from his two...

Mark Cuban had Parsons sign offer sheet where???

I don’t think you could dream up a more appropriate way for Chandler Parsons to sign his $45 million offer sheet from the Dallas Mavericks, than to have Mark Cuban be with you while hanging out in a nightclub. Parsons, the third-year forward for the Houston Rockets, has suddenly been thrust into the spotlight of Houston’s off season, as general manager Daryl Morey attempts to...

Pitino on Chris Jones: As good a guard as I've coached

Rick Pitino has coached some pretty good guards during his nearly 40-year career in college basketball.  Recently at Louisville, there was Russ Smith, the two-time All-American, and Peyton Siva, the point guard who led the Cardinals to a national championship in 2013. He had a host of talented players at Kentucky, too, the school with which he won it all in 1998.  A player currently...

Nets set to pay record luxury tax bill for 2013-14 season
