From The Last Angry Fan:

Not to get all religious on people, but I don’t think even God could help the dreadful Cardinals at this point.  Then again, maybe divine intervention is the only thing that can help Arizona now.

The West Greenway Bible Church in Glendale, Ariz., put up this delightful sign in response to the buzz from fans and players that they had given up on the 4-9 team following their 58-0 blowout loss to division rival Seattle.  The uninspired play in the game against the Seahawks, coupled with the abhorrent mess that is the quarterback situation has caused many supporters to write off the team for this season, as well as the immediate future.

From KTAR

Pastor John Correia said the verse says that, with God, all things are possible. He put the verse up after hearing fans and players alike were giving up on the season.

“It just prompted me to say, ‘No, it’s just the opposite. There’s always hope, there’s always help available.’”

As far as what fans should pray for, Correia said don’t ask for wins, ask for peace in the locker room.

“It’s pretty obvious that there’s going to be some staff changes and some changes on the roster in the off-season and those people are going to be looking for jobs and, whatnot and guess what? We need to pray for those folks too.”

Nice sentiment, and Pastor Correia is correct when he says there’s always hope, even for the Cardinals.  Unless you’re the Jacksonville Jaguars.  They’re just a Chad Henne injury away from the rapture.

Church sign takes shot at Arizona Cardinals

Ah, the Arizona Cardinals.  Long the whipping boy of the NFL (thank you Bidwells).  Sure they had a couple of good years with Kurt Warner (and somehow came within seconds of actually winning a Super Bowl), but now they have resumed their rightful spot near the bottom of the NFC. Sure, they started 4-0 defeating [...]

Kolb done for year, future with Cards unclear

TEMPE, Ariz. The Arizona Cardinals placed Kevin Kolb on injured reserve Wednesday, ending his season. The writing for that move was on the wall when the Cards signed quarterback Brian Hoyer off waivers on Monday. When asked if this move was a possibility on Monday, coach Ken Whisenhunt said that would be a medical decision, but he no longer seemed hopeful that Kolb would return...

Cecil Shorts III cleared to begin practice again

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Cecil Shorts III is back at practice and symptom-free following his first concussion. Shorts, who has 43 receptions for 824 yards and seven touchdowns this season, missed last week's game against the New York Jets because of lingering symptoms. Shorts says he was "out for about 5 seconds" after getting hit at...

Jaguars waive WR Kevin Elliot

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- The Jacksonville Jaguars have waived rookie receiver Kevin Elliott and activated rookie offensive lineman Austin Pasztor from the practice squad. The team also signed receiver Jerrell Jackson to the practice squad. Elliott, who started one game and played in a dozen more for the Jaguars (2-11), caught seven passes for 70 yards. He also played a key role...

Pick of the week: Lions (-5.5) at Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals are playing some of the worst football in recent history. After somehow lucking their way into winning their first four games of the season, they have now rattled off nine straight losses and look to be going nowhere fast as they placed Kevin Kolb on the IR this week and anointed Ryan Lindley his replacement.  The Cardinals are a team that will...

Cardinals QB Ryan Lindley Will Be the Starter Sunday

Cardinals HC Ken Whisenhunt said that QB Ryan Lindley will be the starter on Sunday, per Kent Somers. The move is likely more focused on the future, considering the Cardinals are out of the hunt at this point and need to thoroughly evaluate all of their options at quarterback for 2013. Lindley is having a disappointing season thus far, having already thrown five interceptions without...

Cecil Shorts Given Green Light To Return To Action

Jaguars receiver Cecil Shorts III (concussion) has been cleared to practice and play, according to beat writer Mark Long.Fantasy Spin:Shorts has caught 20 balls for 368 yards and four touchdowns in his last four starts and has been one this season's biggest surprises. Jaguars Waive WR Kevin Elliott

The Jaguars waived rookie receiver Kevin Elliott today and promoted offensive guard Austin Pasztor to the 53-man roster. Elliott, who had played in every game on special teams and see up-and-down time at receiver, struggled in last week’s game against the Jets, dropping two passes and committing a fourth-quarter penalty. In practice on Thursday, he was at the bottom of the depth...

Making sense of Rex Ryan's backup quarterback quandary

Tim Tebow hasn't been healthy enough to see the field for a month, yet New York Jets coach Rex Ryan insists Tebow remains the No. 2 quarterback. Meanwhile, Greg McElroy, Gang Green's third-stringer, is the only quarterback not named Mark Sanchez to run New York's offense in a regular season game this year. The healthy and capable McElroy replaced Sanchez in the second...

The Philadelphia Eagles are pinching pennies: Mike Patterson move proves cash is king

Late in November in an apparent cost cutting move the Philadelphia Eagles cut Jason Babin. At the time, while many people that I spoke to called it a blatant cash motivated move by a cheap owner I found plenty of reasons from a football sense to justify it. The recent decision to reduce Mike Patterson's salary after placing him on the non-football illness list is much more difficult...

Jaguars-Dolphins Preview

While not much has gone right for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Miami Dolphins, both teams have their sights set on finishing strong with the season winding down. After a health scare earlier in the week, coach Mike Mularkey should be on the sidelines as the Jaguars try to avoid losing five in row on the road for the first time in nine seasons Sunday against a Dolphins team that...

Wicks: Good talk with Leach, ponders options

GERARD WICKS, the Washington State verbal commit who will play for a California state crown Friday, said Mike Leach called him Sunday to talk about the season Wicks has had so far and to envision his future in the Air Raid. The 3-star running back tells CF.C he is sky high about the Cougs -- but not so much as to preclude him from taking official visits elsewhere.

Cardinals to start Hoyer at QB

The Arizona Cardinals will give Brian Hoyer his first NFL start, less than three weeks after the team claimed him off waivers from Pittsburgh. Coach Ken Whisenhunt said Wednesday that the former Michigan State quarterback will start for the Cardinals in their season finale Sunday at San Francisco. Hoyer, who spent three seasons as a backup in New England and was out of a job for...
