NBC Sports has been looking for a new voice to replace Faith Hill for the introduction of Sunday Night Football ever since Hill opted to give up the role last month.Naturally, rumors have run wild about who the network may tab to replace her. All of that speculation could come to an end Tuesday afternoon when NBC is slated to make a "major talent announcement." The network is set to make the announcement at approximately 4 p.m.Via The Big Lead

  • I will miss Faith Hill on SNL. Her performances were always something I would watch. Faith Hill has all the attributes that most people would want for their daughters: brains, talent, beauty, poise and character. If it can't be Faith Hill on SNL, then Carrie Underwood would be an excellent replacement. SNL will definitely lose viewers if they were to select a POP or Hip-Hop singer.
  • Bring back the men.
  • "SNL will definitely lose viewers if they were to select a POP or Hip-Hop singer."

What planet are you living on? People tune into Sunday Night Football TO WATCH FOOTBALL!!

IMO Carrie Underwood is just another drama-queen diva, but, assuming this is true, I'm not going to NOT watch the game because of her. I might time my bathroom break or snack break for when she's on-screen, but I'm not missing the game because of that. And actual FOOTBALL FANS will tell you the same thing; no matter who's singing what song, we're there to watch the game.

Oh, and SNL is the acronym for "Saturday Night Live."
  • Didn't like Faith Hill. Won't like Carrie Underwood. Just a blatant attempt of the NFL to attract female viewers, which is so against their core audience. Why don't they pick a more natural choice of some performer who most NFL fans and players actually listen to?
  • Since the song is a rip off from a Joan Jett tune why don't they let her sing it then.
  • Carrie, you sure are an excellent replacement voice-wise, but you'll never replace those wonderful, long legs that Faith has! Faith you will be missed!
  • What planet do you live on?/ Have you seen Carrie in a short dress or just shorts?? She is considered to have the hottest legs in the business, and I AGREE!
  • This is a perfect pick - So glad they staying with a country singer
  • hope it comes true, Carrie or Faith are great in their popularity.
  • glad to see Faith leaving, didn't think she fit the part. GO Carrie can't wait for football
  • What a shame!

Faith Hill was the only reason I watched the opening of SNF and then changed the channel.

Now this gorgeous professional is being replaced by one of the many air head divas.

Nice going NBC! It's brilliance like this that keeps you the Number 4 network.
  • Try watching men host football.
  • I am with the FOOTBALL FANS, it does not matter who is singing. I will watch the game. As for Faith being gone, that is great. I did not care for her after she blew a gasket when Carrie beat her at the C.M.A. She (faith) thought she was all that, so I am not too sure about her charactor as victor615 would have it. Lets get the season started.
  • ARE YOU KIDDING ME? AFTER THE LAST FIASCO THEY ARE GOING TO SIGN ON A NEW PUKE C&W SINGER?
THERE IS NO PHQING WAY I WILL EVER WATCH SNF.
    SICK BAS TARDS.
  • Please, please, please nooooooo....... bring back Pink!!!
  • If I had to choose a replacement .... GRETCHEN WILSON would be it....hands down.
  • Who cares? It's kind of stupid to begin with.
  • GAG she is so pretentious. Don't like her and she comes off as generic but honestly ..whatever. don't watch or listen...those are the times when snacks are replenished and legs are stretched. Oh...and I am girl so the pathetic attempt to get us to tune in by adding a girl to the programming ... huge waste of your money NFL. It has ZERO impact.
  • Carrie is the best, she will do fantastic!
  • I think it's a shame Faith will no longer singing on Sundays. Just hearing her voice was enough to get one pumped for the game about to start. She was also a reminder to "women" that YOUNGER was not always hotter. She's an older woman and still has it going on!!! You don't have to be a young tart(cheerlearder type) to be hot. Guess I'll be taking my time getting to the television with my snacks now...
But I'm a FOOTBALL fan and would much rather we get down to business and start the flippin game!

  • really? you would not watch the game because of who sings the intro? I don't believe that for a minute. I personally loved seeing Faith Hill. I'm sure Underwood will be just fine (for all you reverse-hat-wearing, self-appointed animal-types....Underwood is married to an NHL player....there - that should satisfy your disdain for a "Diva" - and apparently she is the farthest thing from a Diva there is).
  • I watch SNF, although not from minute one of the pregame show through the last play of the game. I tune it in to see how the game is going and decide if I will watch the rest of it. I have no idea what Carrie Underwood does on the program, so I certainly won't miss her.

The Chicago Bears have yet to decide if they will stick with Jay Cutler for the 2015 season, but former NFL coach and current ESPN analyst Jon Gruden does not think the decision should be all that difficult. Gruden believes Cutler has to go. During an appearance on “Mike and Mike” on Thursday, Gruden said...Read More

Blue Jays OF tears meniscus in freak sprinkler accident

It’s that time of the year again.   For some reason, MLB spring training brings about the strangest and most unfortunate injuries. And Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Michael Saunders was 2015’s first victim, tearing his left meniscus after stepping on a sprinkler head while shagging balls. Saunders said he felt a pop when it happened. “I just tried to walk...

Death threats show why some fans take sports too seriously

Once in a while I like to take a step back and remind myself and anyone listening that this world has a lot to offer. So many things can and should give inspire us — love, sex, money, food, travel, work, music, cinema, physical exercise, and of course sports. Some of us can’t get enough of all of that, some have other vices, some only one or two. But although work and sports...

Five bubble teams playing well heading into March

Come Sunday, the calendar will turn to March which for college basketball fans, marks a special time of year. As the NCAA tournament is just weeks away from tipping off, most of us know that the usual suspects like Kentucky, Duke and Kansas are sure to be there. For several other teams, the goal right now is simply getting into the field of 68. For teams on the bubble, every game...

Falcons release Steven Jackson

The hits keep coming for NFL running backs. A day after the Detroit Lions sent Reggie Bush packing, veteran running back Steven Jackson was released by the Atlanta Falcons. On the surface, this move is not surprising. Jackson, 31, put up 1,250 yards and 12 touchdowns in two seasons with the Falcons. The former Pro Bowler was set to count $4.92 million against the cap in 2015. By...

Bill Walton has some words of advice for Derrick Rose

If anyone can relate to what Derrick Rose is going through, it’s Bill Walton. Long before there was Rose, Penny Hardaway, Grant Hill, Brandon Roy, or any other promising NBA star whose career was derailed by injuries, there was Walton. Walton was a three-time college player of the year and led UCLA to two national...Read More

Five under-the-radar National Player of the Year candidates

While March and April are undoubtedly for the NCAA tournament, February has, at least in recent years, turned into the month for three things: bubble talk, 1-seed talk, and player of the year talk. This year, Wisconsin senior Frank Kaminsky and Duke freshman Jahlil Okafor have been running 1-2 for most of the season in the POY discussion, with Ohio State’s D’Angelo Russell...

So much for this being a slow time of the year around the NFL. As has been the case over the past several months, off-field issues are making headlines around the league.
