Mike Westhoff might have retired, but he isn't departing before dishing on everyone's favorite subject: Tim Tebow. Making an appearance on WQAM in Miami Friday, the longtime (and outspoken) Jets special teams coach classified Tebow's role with the team as an "absolute mess." “It was a mess,” Westhoff said, via ProFootballTalk.com.  “It was an absolute mess.  You can say it however else you want, it was really a mess.  I was very, very disappointed.  There are things that Tim Tebow, as an NFL quarterback, he’s very limited in some things.  If you throw him in the middle of a drop-back passing offense, he will look very, very average at best.  But if you incorporate him in different facets of your offense, I think he can be a factor.  That’s what I felt we were going to do, but we never did it. Westhoff, like the rest of us, was expecting to see Tebow lined up all over the field. It never materialized. His role as the personal punt protector on special teams was "suppo...

  • I read the B- - l Sh-- the Jets coach had to say about Tbow. It struck me that you express yourself as a fool proof 100% expert and that YOU know every thing there is to know about Football to be a coach. What a dumb a-s. Why can't you win once in a while Mr. smart know it all. You need to set on the side lines for a while and watch a good ball game. Maybe Alabama's coach could show you a thing or two about FOOTBALL
  • Now Tebow is the scapegoat for the Jet's failures! That is pretty good! A guy warms the bench and still gets blamed for the loses on the field.

    What a pathetic organization.!
  • As a long suffering Lions fan who has actually attended games in the demolished Tiger Stadium and abandoned Pontiac Silverdome, please send Tim Tebow to Detroit. As evidenced by the Lions game record this year, Matthew Stafford can't do everything!!
  • Who did the Jets Coaching staff blame before Tebow, How many plays did he get into during the season the problem with the Jets is Rex Ryan and his band of flops his act is tiresome and is a disgrace to the coaching profession.
  • Tebow a distraction? Westoff clearly says he was not a distraction, but praises him in many ways:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yy2k3_fUITI
  • Tim Tebow is a proven winner on the field. He proved it
in Florida and Denver. We'll never know, because he didn't
get a chance to play. So the loser quarterback and loser
coach are still there. What's wrong with this picture???

Drew Stanton likely out for the year, postseason included

A season that has been defined by surprising all-around team play and marred by injuries to multiple major contributors will pretty much end that way for the Arizona Cardinals. Regardless of whether Bruce Arians’ squad continues to surprise the NFL world in the playoffs, it appears that Ryan Lindley will be under center for the duration. Drew Stanton, who was called on to replace...

Belichick: Garoppolo has better understanding of NFL

It’s only right that three days after Christmas, the New England Patriots will get to play with their shiny new quarterback. Since Sunday’s matchup against the Buffalo Bills means nothing to the New England Patriots  — they’ve already clinched the No. 1 seed in the AFC — keeping their starters in the game for all four quarters seems like a ticking time bomb for injuries...

The last time the Lions won in Green Bay

Mel Gray returned a fourth quarter punt 78 yards for a touchdown. Erik Kramer completed two touchdown passes to Robert Clark. The year was 1991, and the eventual NFC Central winning Detroit Lions held off Mike Tomczak and the Green Bay Packers 21-17 at Lambeau Field. Since that fateful December afternoon in Green Bay, the Packers have won 23 consecutive home games against Detroit...
