During the New York Jets Thanksgiving day massacre, superfan and possibly the most famous fan in all of sports, Fireman Ed saw enough. Fireman Ed aka Ed Anzalone could not take the debacle that took place against the hated New England Patriots during the second quarter. The Patriots' 35 second quarter points are now fourth all-time for most points scored in a quarter. That probably would make even though most optimistic fan want to leave. The Patriots went on to win 49-19 in the nightcap of the Thanksgiving day games.

According to ESPN New York:

Fireman Ed, aka Ed Anzalone, apparently couldn’t take the debacle of a second quarter and left at the half. That is according to Twitter users who say they sat in his section. Anzalone’s own Twitter account was deactivated during the game as well. Not a banner night for the team, and not for an icon of a New York Jets fan either.

Former nose tackle and analyst Kris Jenkins noticed. “Fireman Ed deleted his account?” Jenkins tweeted. “Wow thought he was a diehard fan? Guess he went back to the Dolphins.”

  • Yea, I feel sorry for Fireman ED! His team definitely has GANGRENE! and needs to be Amputated!
  • I feel his Pain!!! and frustration... I have been a DIEHARD fan for years ever since the ken o'brien and Al Toon days... this organization just can get their stuff together... I mean come on "WE" had an opportunity to have belichek as our coach... after parsells... some how re jacked that up... man are we ever kicking ourselves in the rear! I don't even watch the games on TV anymore... it isn't worth my frustration... Ed I don't blame you one bit this circus show the JETS camp is running is SAD! I don't want to bring myself to call it what i want!!!
  • I think this Fireman inhaled too much smoke? It's a game played by Millionaires and they don't care what the fan does; they still get paid.
  • AND THEY SAY MY cOWBOYS R BAD !
    I STILL AM A FAN !
  • The Jets suck ...
  • Thank God he wasnt a Chiefs fan. He would have ended his life weeks ago.
  • I hear that! They are just gawd-awful this year. Oh wait, and last year. No, the last few years... While everyone complains about their teams, its been, what 45+ years since we've seen the inside of a Superbowl. Tickets here are a cheap as $9.00, and the parking is $25.00. Are you serious??? You couldn't give me a set of tickets now-a-days.

And when people here in K.C. talk about "those fair-weather fans", almost 50 years without making into the superbowl? Ah, ya don't need to slap me 49 times... LOL Geeze.

  • I hear you, man. I actually miss the Schottenheimer days...We never made it to the BIG GAME,but Marty would at least get us to the playoffs. I have friends with season tickets that stopped going after week 6.
  • Have you ever seen the Lion's?????????????? One playoff win in 54 years.....ONE!!!!
  • Good ridence...Who is this guy anyway...fireman Ed....what a joke, just like his team, along with that sorry ass Sanchez charector. And they laugh at Tebow? The most famous fan in all of sports? give me a break. How old is this guy? you are suppose to be someone that kids look up to (if you are indeed a real firefighter) I hope you dont have kids of your own, or maybe your just a kid.

I hope your done with football, because we are done with you. Don't let that ladder hit you in your a$$ on your way out the door.
  • Superfan? Not even a fan. If he was he wouldn't bail on his team. I don't care who the owner is, who the coach is and who they players are, your team is still your team. IF the Jets ever start winning I hope they don't let him back in. (I'm a Saints fan and I was still going to their games when they were struggling.
  • In good times and bad if your a true die hard fan and not some wannabee who is as bad as the team with that fake custume and that fake cheer? As bad as the Jets are there are even lousier team!
  • Never truer words were spoke.... Take it from a die hard Beantown boy... It took awhile, but Boston became the championship capital for awhile...Hel...? I can die a happy ole hippy dude now... :) The sox won the pennant, weeds practicaly legal here in Maine... God Bless America..!
  • Yes the Jets do suck
    Cowgirls aren't much better!!
  • does anyone really care about fireman Ed, he is joker who probably can't even throw a football
  • I guess EDDIE BOY never really fit the profile of DIEHARD. We all knew it was just an act. Look up FAIR WEATHER FAN and you'll find Fireman ED's mugshot.
  • People who get that involved over a sporting event must not have a life.
  • hey, i know how it feel's to like a team that has sucked for a long time for i am a redskins fan and have been since 1974 when i was 7 years old...and no matter how bad they got and no matter about the endless tourture from co workers i still showed every one that the redskins were still my team and i would always say to them....i don't care if they never win another game in my lifetime....i will never turn my back on the team!
  • Hey man, I'm a Redskins fan too thanks to an ex-boyfriend that has left me with this symptom LOL and I'm a jets fan as well (CRAZY JETS FAN), but I'm diehard for both of them. I took to to twitter yesterday just like the rest of #jetsnation and ranted and raved, took my Sanchez jersey off just as I did my Moss jersey weeks ago and threw it on the ground becuase I was angry, but I'll tell you what, come next sunday, I'll have both of them on again. I'll never leave. Through the good or the bad, buddy like you said. Ed, that dude, well, I know he was frustrated, but if you're a fan, you're a fan. Nothing else to be said. The Jets are stinking up the place and most of it is laughable and the rest of it is sickening but I love them no matter what. Even if the top commenter said we have ganggreen and need to be amputated LOL it's not far from the truth, but at the end of the day, I'm still J! E! T! S! Jets! Jets! Jets! #Flightcrew! Forever!
  • I've Always been a Patriots fan, But I remember for twenty years the Patriots couldn't when a football game,, everybody gets a shot,, these super teams are built, they win for awhile, then they rebuild, this guy hast to know that,,,, their already saying Tom Brady It starting to get old at 35
  • I too have been a fan since the boston pats. While I am by no means denying Toms greatness, In bill I trust. He won 11 games with Cassel. Just tryin to put your mind at ease for when Tom leaves in 3 years. Lets not forget he also had a lot to do with 2 championship that had Hostetler and Simms at QB(thats amazing). He'll get it taken care of before its a problem. IN BILL I TRUST!
( I dont see Tom leaving willingly till he gets his fourth ring)
  • Will somebody as too take a stand!!!!! The Jets are not getting it!!!! THE STUPID Team got two Q-B's and no back up on deff.&off side of the ball!!!!! They had a chance to trade for more back up, did they do it????? NO..................... We have to stand together and protest against the stupid thinking that jets do to us and are players!?!??!?!????
  • I have been a Jets fan since 1969 Super Bowl days. Not anymore.
I had to turn the tele off last night. What a horrible ending
    to a great Thanksgiving Day.
  • I've Always been a Patriots fan, But I remember for twenty years the Patriots couldn't when a football game,, everybody gets a shot,, these super teams are built, they win for awhile, then they rebuild, this guy hast to know that,,,, their already saying Tom Brady It starting to get old at 35
  • ed is a douche!!! should have charges leveled against him years ago for commercial he made for news jets stadium in manhattan!!
  • Who is this guy? Never heard of him before today. How can someone be the most famous fan in sports if sports fan have never heard of him?
When I think of famous NFL fans I picture the Cleveland fan with the dog mask, the loons in Oakland's black hole, the space alien guy for Carolina, the dude that wears the barrel and suspenders at Denver games, or the 10-15 thousand Steeler fans who show up at opponents stadiums for away games.
Fireman Ed??? Nobody knows him. Nobody cares.
Fireman Ed, we never knew ya and we surely won't miss ya.
  • i guess you never watched a jets game before. everyone knows who he is butthead.
  • Why would I watch a Jets game unless my team was playing them. So no, not everyone knows him.
  • Being a fellow firefighter, Ed has heart and passion for his Jets. But at this event, could not stomach anymore the mental breakdown that is known as N.Y. 2012 Jets. He has seen his share of traumas and letdowns. But last night, even one of New York's finest, had to walk away for awhile. If any one questions his loyalty or love for N.Y. Jets, doesn't know what it feels to be pissed off, and not want to see it anymore.
  • your a fireman and you dont know NYPD is ny's finest and FDNY is NY's BRAVEST
  • What a wuss. Diehard fan indeed.
  • Why'd he leave? I thought it was a great game. We were hootin' and hollerin' in my house.
  • Arty Lang said it best: "When I was a kid, I was into The New York Jets. And then I got into girls as I got older, and then I got back into the Jets because I'd realized there's times when the girl won't f*^k you, but the Jets will always f*^k you."
Ed is just sore from all the F^*king he has been getting he will be back hahah Go 49ers!
  • Been a Raiderfan 43 years and still rootin. More upset with the patsie calls against anyone playin the pats than the status of my team. tuck rule, end of Gruden as Raiders coach.Football is becoming a game for sissy's because of the patriots.
  • it's just football!!! life goes on!! jets just lost a game and prob the season. Some families lose EVERYTHING!!!
Relax Jet fans, it'll be ok.
  • I'd love to have Rex as our defensive Co. BTW, I'm a pat fan!! Rex come and JOIN the Pat's!!!!
  • great comment raider fan!! Look way back in the early 70's when the pat's got screwed over a bogus call in the endzone which knocked them out of the play-offs!! check that out!
  • I've Always been a Patriots fan, But I remember for twenty years the Patriots couldn't when a football game,, everybody gets a shot,, these super teams are built, they win for awhile, then they rebuild, this guy hast to know that,,,, their already saying Tom Brady It starting to get old at 35
  • I have expected to see Fireman Ed over center in the fourth quarter...the Jets are so thin in every postion.
  • i dont know whats wrong with the jets oh!i for got SCRAECHEZ OOPS SANCHEZ IS QUARTERBACK! LMAO!!!! maybe it's time to let TBOW GET SOME FIELD TIME SENSE THEIR NOT TRYING TO WIN!
  • maybe Fireman Ed left the game early because had an appointment at his barber shop to have his head simonized.
  • They should ve thrown Tebone in there just to get something started, anything really
  • Tom Brady, is a good QB, but its his leadership that's key,
they even said last night its like having your own offesive coodinater on the field, he doesn;t even have to coach him
  • I thought it was a great game. Loved the way the Jets kept coughing up the rock. Too funny.
  • Jets, Jets, Jets, Jets, isn't there any other teams to write about? There a poor version of a bad ballclub with an idiot for a coach. I have never heard of the fireman and don't care. I would like to read about other teams besides NYJ, Giants, Patriots and Skins. Give us a break!!!!
  • It should happen more often. The NFL has too many teams which spreads out the talent to the point we get many crappy games like this. And these morons think that opening up Europe is the next step. Think again. The European league folded. There are 33 NFL teams but there is only enough A+ talent for 18-20. This is the problem, This is why when we go to a game we pay ridiculous prices for tickets and parking, hot dogs and beer and end up bored to death. It used to be fun. Now its a small fortune for a family to even go to a game. Most of these players woke up on 3rd base and thought they hit a triple. They are not hungry. They are not focused. This is not professional football as I remember it.
  • You have put into words what many of us old-timers have felt for years. The real die-hard football fan today watches and supports his local highschool. its simple hard played football played for the sake of the game rather than money or prospect of it.
  • the key to the patriots is if brady runs out on the field good game but if he slow walk head down you can forget it
  • Join the club , fireman Ed. Try being a Raiders fan hoping after Al Davis passed away the team could finally get back to the glory days. Nope! Just more of the same crappy football
  • i am a patriot die hard but last night game atotal disrespect of someones house
  • The bigger the sports fan, the bigger the moron.
  • Hate this jerk!!!How much is this stupid guy paid anyhow to get these seats.
I feel sorry for Jets fans because all the stupid media show is this stupid guy. BYE fireman idiot,,,no one will miss you....
  • Gee, I feel so sorry for the Jets and their fans, especially this Fireman Ed. Is he a real fireman or a poser? Do you think the team really cares if this guy is gone? I've been a Redskins fan since 1953 and I've been thru some bad times but never thought of leaving them. I just like following them and will always cheer them on. If this guy can't hack it as a fan, I'm glad he's gone and his Twitter account is gone, too.
  • Fireman Ed is a retired fireman. I wish the Jets Ownership had half the compassion for the team as he has.

Will the latest embarrassing Jets loss to the Patriots cost Rex Ryan his job?

Rex Ryan is no stranger to his New York Jets being embarrassed at home by the New England Patriots. Last season, the Patriots traveled to New York and beat the Jets by a score of 37-16. New York Jets: Week 12 NFL Power Rankings (#26)

Last week: 27 (+1) Record: 4-6 The Jets were bound to bounce back last week. Teams that lose back-to-back games by 21 or more go 36-16 ATS in their next game.
