Report: Jets to ‘shop’ Tim Tebow at Scouting Combine

On Tuesday, the Jets began their roster purging by cutting ties with several veteran players, including linebackers Bart Scott and Calvin Pace.

They won’t resort to the same method with Tim Tebow…yet.

According to ESPNNewYork.com, the Jets are expected to “shop” the backup quarterback at this week’s Scouting Combine.

The NFL's trading period officially opens on March 12, so the Jets are simply putting out feelers, gauging potential interest around the league.

Gang Green shouldn’t be holding its collective breath, however.

No team is going to part with a draft pick for a player they know is on the outs, especially one with an immense amount of cult-like hoopla. As New York experienced first-hand, acquiring Tebow ultimately brings about more negatives than positives.

While another NFL club probably will kick the tires on Tebow, the Jets can all but forget about recouping their losses from last season’s monumental blunder.

  • Monumental blunder? Maybe their biggest blunder was not playing him. Never saw anything like it- coaches sucked, players on the field sucked, and all they can do is blame the guy who didn't play for being a distraction. Yeah, that must've been it.

  • Maybe it is the Jets who bring about more negatives than positive. Jets should be happy that Tebow is an honorable type of man otherwise if I were Tebow I would sue the **** out of the Jets, possibly for near ruining his career,not letting him do his job, bringing him negative publicity etc...., Sanchez and the Jets including coaching suck and instead of trying to do something about it they blame Tebow not for poor performance(how could they) but just for being Tebow

  • I used to have good feelings about the Jests, but after their terrible treatment of Tim Tebow my feeling is that no decent player should consider being a part of their (dis)organization, and they should have losing seasons for about the next 75 to 100 years. Also that Rex Ryan continues to coach them for that long and the current ownership, if they try to sell the team should get about 10 cents back for every dollar they have put into the team. This is the best I can wish for them.

  • I totally agree that Tim Tebow has become the proverbial scapegoat for the the coaches'incompetence and their lack of intestinal fortitude to truly leave it all on the field and try something different because the Sanchez factor was not working. I am certain that somewhere, in the not so distant future, Tebow will re-emerge and continue to display the heart of the champion that he is. he only needs a real bona-fide chance to do so.
