Entering into the mythology of athlete food and drink consumption, and along the lines of drinking 64 beers on a cross-country flight, is none other than Philadelphia Eagles first-round draft pick Lane Johnson.

Johnson, a former high school quarterback who has gained over 100 pounds since, is being presented to fans of the Eagles as some kind of folk legend. Johnson is even playing into it by joking around about wrestling bears back home.

The story that caught most folks' attention is that of the appetite attached to Johnson. After all, the dude gained 100 pounds. His stepfather relayed the story to PhillyMag.com, and it is as amazing as it is gross:

“He came home two weekends ago,” Evans said. “I bought 36 eggs on Thursday afternoon. He was coming home Friday. And I bought about 10, 15 pounds of hamburger meat. Well that Thursday, I cooked 20 burgers. The next Friday night, I come out to eat one, they’re all gone. I said, ‘Lane, where’s all the hamburgers?’ ‘I ate ‘em.’ Well Saturday morning comes around, I was going to cook breakfast. I looked down, I said, ‘Lane, where’s the eggs?’ ‘I ate ‘em.’”

See, amazingly gross. I’ve never had more than two half-pound burgers in one sitting, and maybe six in a week. I have smashed 10 sliders.

Johnson claims he wants to gain an additional 10-15 pounds prior to the start of training camp. As long as he keeps making trips home, he may very well exceed that.

We wanted to use a Bill Brasky video, but USA Today already beat us to the idea.

What Matt Barkley Means For the Future of the Philadelphia Eagles

2013 NFL Draft Team Grades: Philadelphia Eagles

First Round: Lane Johnson, OT, Oklahoma Philly must have been pretty scared when Miami traded up ahead of them, but they got their man anyways. Johnson is the third best OT in the draft, but I think he has the most potential out of the three. I think Chip Kelly can get a lot out of him. He will be a staple on that line for years to come. I think Johnson was one of the top...

Why Wrigley Field still matters at 100

Most stadiums are just places to put butts. Like a living organism, it takes time for these inanimate objects to grow into something more meaningful. The majority of Major League ballparks have not yet had this opportunity — 24 of the 30 have been built in my lifetime, and I’m still young enough to have lived my whole life within the frame of MTV’s existence. Like a good child...
