Atlanta Falcons kicker Matt Bryant has emerged as one of the better place kickers in the league this season. He has converted timely and clutch field goals all year long, including the game-winner against the Seattle Seahawks last weekend, but kicking footballs a long way isn’t his only rare talent. Bryant told reporters on Thursday that he learned the mating call of an alligator while watching the National Geographic channel one day and has been able to perfect it. “I was watching the National Geographic Channel one day, and heard them mimicking the mating sound that brings an alligator,” Bryant said, via USA Today. “So I figured I’d try and mimic the sound. Sure enough, a baby alligator came up from a retention pond behind our Tampa home.” Bryant also claims he has used the mating call as a distraction when he is having a poor round of golf. While participating in a charity golf event in Myrtle Beach, S.C. last year, he says he frightened some members of his foursome — including offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter — by summoning a gator. “If I’m not having a very good round, I’ll say, ‘Hey, watch this’ and do the alligator call,” Bryant said. “I did it a couple of times at Mr. Blank’s outing. The biggest one that came up from the pond was probably between 6 and 7 feet.” But don’t worry, Bryant has learned that there is a fine line between communicating with the reptiles and putting himself and others in harm’s way. “We were in Cancun for an event and were playing golf when we heard something thrashing in the mangroves,” he explained. ”I did the sound and, all of a sudden, the thrashing stopped. And from me to where Tony Gonzalez’s locker is (12-feet away), a saltwater croc stuck his head up. He was a 12- to 14-footer. He scared everybody, scared me. So I stopped making the sounds. I’ll talk with them now. But it’s from a distance.” Thank goodness for that. This is the same Matt Bryant who had this funny story to tell about his game-winning kick against Seattle, so we know he has a great sense of humor. The question is: Do you believe that he is actually an alligator whisperer? The post Matt Bryant says he has perfected the mating call of an alligator appeared first on Larry Brown Sports. Report: Bulls management anxious to fire Tom Thibodeau

With a healthy Derrick Rose, the Chicago Bulls look like a team that is poised to make a run at a championship. Even if they do, their head coach could very well be headed elsewhere this summer. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, Bulls management “can’t wait to rid itself” of Tom Thibodeau. It...Read More

Teammate: Zach Mettenberger sees himself as Titans starter

The Tennessee Titans threw some people for a curve when they settled on selecting Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota with the second overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft. One member of the team who might not have been happy with that choice is their starting quarterback from last season, Zach Mettenberger. Mettenberger will likely be sitting behind Mariota as a backup this fall....

Maybe Austin Rivers is good at basketball

You clicked me? Don’t duck out yet. This is a (kind of) serious column about Austin Rivers possibly going from being just above bad to possibly good. It isn’t clickbait, I promise. Austin Rivers is only 22 years old. I think we forget that. There was a time when being so young meant we would not judge someone’s NBA career so harshly this early in the process. Whether it...

Mayweather reportedly willing to give rematch to Pacquiao

It took forever for Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao to finally come to terms on their first fight, but it sounds like Round 2 might quickly come together.   Mayweather-Pacquiao wasn’t the thriller so many hoped it would be, but the overhyped bout between the two men pushing 40 made record amounts of money. So it should come as no surprise that both fighters...

Eliminate Hack-A-Player: Don't reward violating sports rules

Yes, it’s convenient that we’re writing about Hack-A-Player at this specific point in time. Yet, the argument against allowing the practice existed far before the 2015 NBA Playoffs. Even before the Hack-A-(DeAndre) Jordan employed by the San Antonio Spurs over the past two weeks; even before Monday night’s sorry spectacle of the Hack-A-Jordan dueling with the Hack-A-(Dwight...

Jon Jones’ manager: Former champ may never fight again

Have we seen the last of Jon Jones inside the Octagon? The former UFC light heavyweight champion’s manager is not ruling it out. No easy solution to the problem of early NFL draft entrants

The NFL Draft is supposed to be a celebratory event. It’s about young men who are realizing their dream to play in the National Football League. However, what about the players who have their dreams shattered? Eighty-four (84) players declared early for the NFL Draft. The first two days were a boon for many of them, as 43 were selected in the first three rounds. That left...

Josh Smith: Rockets played ‘hero ball’

The Houston Rockets had their chances against the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 1 on Monday night, but they were badly outplayed in the second half. Selfishness on offense was one of Houston’s biggest issues, according to Josh Smith. Smith, who hit just 3-of-12 shots from the field and 1-of-5 from beyond the arc, said...Read More

Pacquiao to have surgery to repair 'significant' shoulder tear

Manny Pacquiao is the new Kevin Love. Pacquiao immediately went public with an alleged injury following Saturday night’s loss to Floyd Mayweather. In doing so, Pacquiao was criticized for coming up with an excuse after the loss, but it seems the injury is real. Pacquiao’s orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Neal ElAttrache, confirmed that an MRI on Monday revealed a “significant tear”...
