The kick was wide left, giving the Patriots a 23-20 victory, leading to inevitable comparisons to the 1994 Jim Carrey film 'Ace Ventura, Pet Detective.'

In the movie, Carrey's titular character tracks down a former NFL kicker who becomes a mental patient after missing a similar kick and eventually kidnaps both the Dolphins' mascot and Dan Marino. Laces out, Dan! Really gives meaning to the Lonesome Kicker.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft: “(There were) forces at work that’s beyond anything we can understand.”

As soon as the 32-yard field goal by Ravens kicker Billy Cundiff sailed wide left, Patriots owner Robert Kraft’s mind turned to his late wife, Myra. How could it not? The Patriots 23-20 win over the Ravens sent them to Super Bowl XLVI, and with the way the kick swung wild left, it wasn’t a stretch to wonder if, well, Myra maybe took a breath. Or, if you’re not into...
