New York Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora has collected a lot of trophies throughout his career, including but not limited to two Super Bowl championships in the past five seasons. However, winning the Vince Lombardi trophy may not be the 31-year-old’s most impressive achievement.

According to the NY Post, Umenyiora proposed to his girlfriend Leila Lopes last week over dinner in Atlanta. It appears that she said yes, as Osi later shared some photos on Twitter of the couple’s trip to Europe and referred to her as his “fiancee” on several occasions.

The 26-year-old Lopes won the Miss Universe competition in 2011, so you could say she is quite the catch. The couple reportedly met last year during Fashion Week. She may not be the most famous beauty pageant winner in the country at the moment (thanks to this young lady), but Umenyiora should certainly be proud to call Lopes his future wife.

  • Drop Dead you moron...go put your ads someplace else, this site is for talking about sports you jerk.

And that said...this should be good news to Giants fans, maybe this will light a more competetive fire under Osi's butt....I hope they resign him but he needs to step it up and play like he's capable of doing.
  • Leila Lopes said "Yes" to Osi...Did anyone think otherwise!!! She landed her "golden goose! "Why wouldn't she marry an NFL player....theres not much in the way of career opportunities for ex "beauty queens!" I hope Osi gets a "Massey prenup!" Just ask Jeff Gordon about "trophy brides!"
  • Since she's not an American, she would have picked up her "golden goose" from just about anywhere.
  • Marlyn Monroe, How to marry a millionaire----I want money; he wants a beautiful woman (trophy wife). Why shouldn't we both get what we want?
  • Calling her (a black woman) a gold digger for marrying a black pro ahtlete (who usually marry interracial) is stupid.
She is not from America and could have married men just as rich or richer. They make an ideal couple. They are like bookends. Not because they are both black. We all have seen mismatched couple so of all races. They just looks like black dolls or the cake toppers on a wedding cake.
    Their kids will be lovely.
  • It was a nice story until the last line. Doesn't Katherine Webb get enough press?

    Congrats to Osi & Leila.
  • get real folks! they're young, they're both beautiful, and i'm sure they're both intelligent. THEY'RE IN LOVE, YOU MORONS!
