PLAYERS: Ray Lewis
TEAMS: Baltimore Ravens

Via NFL Trade Rumors:

Ravens LB Ray Lewis told the team on Wednesday that “this will be my last ride“ in the NFL, via the Ravens twitter account.

“I’ve ran my course. It’s time for me to go create a different legacy,” Lewis said.

Lewis, 37, has been sidelined by a triceps injury that he suffered earlier in the year, but he’s ready to return for their playoff game this weekend against the Bengals.

Lewis has clearly lost a step and opposing teams seem to have singled him out as a weak spot in the Ravens’ defense. Still, very few players have put together as incredible of a career as Lewis has with the Ravens. Lewis was voted to 13 Pro Bowls, won the NFL Defensive Player of the Year twice, and even was Super Bowl XXXV Most Valuable Player.

Lewis will probably find work in television at some point in the near future.
