Even when the Jets aren’t playing, the team manages to remain a main topic of conversation in New York by keeping its name in the city’s papers, even if the news of the day has absolutely nothing to do with actual football. Just last week, a photo published by the New York Daily News of head coach Rex Ryan sunning himself while on a vacation on Prairie Island in the Bahamas whipped the interwebs into a frenzy in light of a tattoo on his right arm that by all appearances looked to be a racy image of his wife wearing a Mark Sanchez jersey and little else. Inquiring minds that comprise the New York sports media had their first crack at Ryan after the photo emerged on Tuesday during his season-ending press conference, and Ryan addressed the tattoo, even managing to turn the entire affair into an opportunity to crack a joke about Mark Sanchez in the process. Taking the gossip about the tattoo head-on during the presser, but spinning it to his own satisfaction, Ryan did not explicitly confirm that the tattoo was legit, saying, “There’s a question if it’s a real tattoo or not. I’ll keep you guessing.” Even though he would not 100% confirm its authenticity, Ryan did say that if the quarterback he loyally stood by through a difficult season doesn’t improve, changes are coming: ”I know what you’re thinking, obviously if Sanchez doesn’t play better then that number’s changing. That’s pretty much a given.” Ryan said that he’s had the tattoo for three years and justified the tattoo’s existence — at least in his mind — by lavishing flattering praise upon his wife, saying, “”I’ve been married 25 years and through my eyes, my wife’s the most beautiful woman in the world.” Fair enough. • good ole rex. what a joy!!!!!!!
  • Who cares about rex ryan and his stupid tattoo, just so long as he keeps the jets the Chuckle Fest of the NFL that they are. Seriously, this franchise is a joke and ryan is the ring leader. But 2013 is his last hurrah because even the jets gutless owner will can his ass when they have another losing season again, which they will.

Chris Bosh on blood clot diagnosis: ‘I’m lucky to be alive’

Miami Heat star Chris Bosh looks back at the moment he realized there was something seriously wrong with his health and now considers himself incredibly lucky simply to be around to talk about it. Blood clots were discovered in Bosh’s lungs shortly after playing in the 2015 NBA All-Star Game. Given the seriousness and gravity...Read More The post Chris Bosh on blood clot diagnosis...

Eagles coach Chip Kelly made a mess at quarterback

If you thought that just because the NFL Draft was over that the Marcus Mariota to the Philadelphia Eagles speculation would end, then you clearly haven’t seen enough horror movies. The monster is never dead. No matter how many times he dies, he just keeps coming back for more. So it is with the Chip Kelly going all out to trade up and get Mariota nonsense. For the record, I...

Report: Bulls management anxious to fire Tom Thibodeau

With a healthy Derrick Rose, the Chicago Bulls look like a team that is poised to make a run at a championship. Even if they do, their head coach could very well be headed elsewhere this summer. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, Bulls management “can’t wait to rid itself” of Tom Thibodeau. It...Read More

Teammate: Zach Mettenberger sees himself as Titans starter

The Tennessee Titans threw some people for a curve when they settled on selecting Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota with the second overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft. One member of the team who might not have been happy with that choice is their starting quarterback from last season, Zach Mettenberger. Mettenberger will likely be sitting behind Mariota as a backup this fall....

Maybe Austin Rivers is good at basketball

You clicked me? Don’t duck out yet. This is a (kind of) serious column about Austin Rivers possibly going from being just above bad to possibly good. It isn’t clickbait, I promise. Austin Rivers is only 22 years old. I think we forget that. There was a time when being so young meant we would not judge someone’s NBA career so harshly this early in the process. Whether it...

Mayweather reportedly willing to give rematch to Pacquiao

It took forever for Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao to finally come to terms on their first fight, but it sounds like Round 2 might quickly come together.   Mayweather-Pacquiao wasn’t the thriller so many hoped it would be, but the overhyped bout between the two men pushing 40 made record amounts of money. So it should come as no surprise that both fighters...

Eliminate Hack-A-Player: Don't reward violating sports rules

Yes, it’s convenient that we’re writing about Hack-A-Player at this specific point in time. Yet, the argument against allowing the practice existed far before the 2015 NBA Playoffs. Even before the Hack-A-(DeAndre) Jordan employed by the San Antonio Spurs over the past two weeks; even before Monday night’s sorry spectacle of the Hack-A-Jordan dueling with the Hack-A-(Dwight...

Have we seen the last of Jon Jones inside the Octagon? The former UFC light heavyweight champion’s manager is not ruling it out. No easy solution to the problem of early NFL draft entrants

The NFL Draft is supposed to be a celebratory event. It’s about young men who are realizing their dream to play in the National Football League. However, what about the players who have their dreams shattered? Eighty-four (84) players declared early for the NFL Draft. The first two days were a boon for many of them, as 43 were selected in the first three rounds. That left...

Josh Smith: Rockets played ‘hero ball’

The Houston Rockets had their chances against the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 1 on Monday night, but they were badly outplayed in the second half. Selfishness on offense was one of Houston’s biggest issues, according to Josh Smith. Smith, who hit just 3-of-12 shots from the field and 1-of-5 from beyond the arc, said...Read More
