Rex Ryan was spotted vacationing in the Bahamas showing off his new slimmed-down beach body just days after his New York Jets finished their season with a dismal 6-10 record.

It wasn't the only thing the Jets head coach revealed in his blue and white swim trunks after fellow poolside sunbathers saw what might be a clue as to why Ryan stuck with Mark Sanchez through thick and thin during the quarterback's horrible 2012 season — a kinky tattoo.

On the coach's right arm were two tattoos — one featuring a shamrock and the names of his wife Michelle and their two children.  Below that, there is another showing what looks like a sexy rendering of Michelle wearing nothing but a Sanchez jersey and eyeing the viewer with bedroom eyes, as described by the New York Daily News.

Ryan, who has been on the lam since the Jets season ending loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, unveiled the bizarre tattoo on his right bicep while lounging poolside at the exclusive Cove Atlantis resort, listening to music and reading "American Sniper," by Navy SEAL Chris Kyle.

Ryan cursed out a Daily News reporter who approached the relaxing coach.

"Oh s---," Ryan said, while waving off the newshound and storming off with his wife.

Ryan proudly displayed the tribal art tattoo he got on his right calf before the 2011 season but it's anyone's guess when he got Sanchez's jersey number inked on his arm.  Chances are pretty good it was before the five turnover game against the Titans.

While it's never been a good idea to permanently ink your current fling's name anywhere on your body, it is even more awkward when it's one of your players stuck in a quarterback controversy.

I hope Ryan is prepared for a little painful off-season laser removal of the bromance ink.  Things could have been worse though — it could have been Tim Tebow's  No. 15 instead of Sanchez's single-digit No. 6.

Stick with "MOM" the next time, Rex.

  • Michael, if you're going to call someone an idiot, you should at least be grammatically correct. YOUR is a possessive, as opposed to the contraction for "you are"(YOU'RE) and, while Rex may well be the proud owner of an idiot that in no way makes him an idiot. Now, having a tat of his wife (and not a very good one at that!) wearing Sanchez's number might well qualify him as an idiot --- unless, of course, he is into 3-somes and he and his wife both like Sanchez in more ways than one! Otherwise, someone should refer him to a good laser ink removal specialist.

  • Well, from looking at the tat, I don't see Sanchez's name or the Jets anywhere. While it can be rightfully assumed that it is of Sanchez's jersey on his wife, there is nothing that specifically says so. It could be Namath's jersey too.

  • I admit that I'm not up on my Jets history when I posted this, but my point is still the same. No where does the tat say Sanchez or the Jets. Could be of Bubby Brister or Ray Lucas (most likely not though). It could be just a tat of a pic that Rex liked of her, and she happened to be wearing that jersey.

If he thought Sanchez was worse than the other two, he wouldn't've played him. No professional coach intentionally plays inferior players - let alone for such an asinine "reason."
