San Francisco 49ers cornerback Chris Culliver recently slid some of the Super Bowl attention away from Ray Lewis when he suggested that he couldn’t handle a gay teammate. In Culliver’s words, “I don’t do gays.”

The Ravens, who have a civil rights activist on their roster in Brendon Ayanbadejo, don’t feel the same, and as star linebacker Terrell Suggs suggested, the Ravens would welcome a gay teammate.

“We wouldn’t have a problem with it,” Suggs said, via Pro Football Talk. “We don’t care. Our biggest thing in the locker room is to just have fun and stay loose. We don’t really care too much about that. We’re a football team. I said it yesterday; everybody deserves a certain amount of privacy. Who cares? Whatever a person’s choice is, it’s their choice.

Suggs hinted that the Ravens locker room welcomes those who choose to be themselves.

“On this team, with so many different personalities, we just accept people for who they are and we don’t really care too much about a player’s sexuality,” Suggs said. “To each their own. You know who you are, and we accept you for it.”

  • he probably does pushups in the pickle patch too.
  • You're ignorant. Be constructive, at least people could live with that. But your silly ass comment is a reflection of everything that is wrong with this country...Congrats Terrell and good luck to you and the Ravens in the Super Bowl *New England Patriots* fan here
  • Thank you! Most mature sports players are beginning to see the light regarding people who are different than others. Sports will eventually catch up to the rest of the world, but they need to put a muzzle on these deranged doggies who speak silliness, i.e. Culliver, et al.
  • I too will root for the Ravens. Even though a couple of players on the team have, unecessarily, embraced a disgusting and evil sexual behavior. Sorry if my beliefs offend anyone, but I get offended every day. Do like I do - Get used to it.
  • troca1 has eaten MANY bad pickles.
Now this jock/Chris is a REAL role model.
  • I don't know if troca1's comments are a "reflection of everything that is wrong with this country," but they're certainly a reflection of everything that's wrong with the YardBarker.com site. Just scroll around a bit. What do you see? Men in sports uniforms and women in bikinis or super low cut tops. Really, that should be a clue to the mentality one will generally encounter here. Sometimes what you see is exactly what you get.
  • Thank you! It shows that they don't respect women, are power hungry, and have very low self esteem. Not good characteristics for so-called "leaders."
  • I was an Eagles fan, now I'm a Ravens fan. The 49ers suck.
  • Just Twenty-one years after announcing his retirement from the Los Angeles Lakers because of HIV. Earvin "Magic" Johnson was singled out by NBA players who didn't want to have any physical contact with him. Maybe Magic should have continued on if it doesn't matter who are team mates or what they do..............
  • Culliver of the 49er's had to say that even though he has a right to his personal opinion. Gays don't belong in football or anywhere else in team sports where they can check out another mans goods and get away with it.
  • Gay people are awesome. I love what they do. (maybe this comment will remain?)
