Maybe if this whole professional football thing does’t workout, Tim Tebow can act on Plan B. The quarterback, who has been the talk of the town recently in New England, could think about a potential career in Major League Baseball. According to WEEI, the Los Angels Angels of Anaheim were considering drafting Tebow out of high school — but fate stepped in the way. Tom Kotchman, a Florida-area scout for the Red Sox, previously worked for the Angels and remembered the now-famous quarterback’s baseball days. “We wanted to draft him,” Kotchman said, “but he never sent back his information card. Either it never got to him, or … It’s Tim Tebow. Who knows if it got to him, and if it did we just never got it back. Otherwise were were going to take him.” The information card — which asked a series of questions, including the player’s interest in playing pro baseball — was needed to even put Tebow’s name on the Angels’ draft board. Since it never came, the team sort of had their answer anyway. Tebow played left field as a  junior at Nease High in Ponte Vedra, Fla., hitting .494 with four home runs while leading his team to the final four of the state playoffs. That was the last year he played baseball, though, as he enrolled at Florida during the spring of his senior year to get a head start on his football career. “He had a strong arm and had a lot of power,” said Red Sox Florida scout Stephen Hargett, who worked with Kotchman with the Angels. ”If he would have been there his senior year he definitely would have had a good chance to be drafted. “He had leverage to his swing. He had some natural loft. He had some good power. He was a good athlete. He had had enough arm for that position. He was a left-handed hitter with strength and some size.”

  • Might have been interesting. Still might be if he hasn't lost his edge with a bat.
  • He won't be the talk of New England, if they see him wearing that hat!! :)
  • Hell, he was almost an NFLer.

Brandon Browner: 'No hard feelings' with Sherman, Thomas

PHOENIX — Brandon Browner is trying to change, but he’ll always have the Legion of Boom in and on him. The former Seattle Seahawk came out when Browner, who has a Legion of Boom tattoo, talked to ESPN’s Josina Anderson, and told her that his New England Patriots offensive teammates should try to go after Richard Sherman and Earl Thomas’ injuries. Those type of statements...

Gronk reads erotica, sings Katy Perry at SB Media Day

Super Bowl XLIX Media Day got off to a slow start, and then New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski took the podium. That’s when the fun began. Gronkowski entertained reporters and fans from start to finish. No one expected him to read a line from the erotic novel, A Gronking to Remember, but that’s exactly what he did. “In front of the entire country, Gronk’s spikes...

Governor donates $10K to UNM hoops star’s cancer charity

Breast cancer is a very personal topic for University of New Mexico basketball star Hugh Greenwood. His mother is battling the disease, and just last week, Greenwood called out a Twitter troll who made horrific jokes about his mom’s illness as the source of motivation behind a 22-point, eight-rebound performance in a win over UNLV. Greenwood’s decision to admonish the Twitter...

Seattle Seahawks linebacker K.J. Wright isn’t too happy with his former teammate Brandon Browner. Earlier in the week, Browner told his current New England teammates to attempt to hurt injure Seahawks’ players Richard Sherman and Earl Thomas in the Super Bowl. Bill Simmons fires a shot at ESPN colleague Ray Lewis

You know how this one sets up. Boston Sports Guy Bill Simmons is a huge Patriots fan.  ESPN analyst and former Ravens LB Ray Lewis has been smack talking the Patriots throughout the postseason and even said the team deserved an asterisk for cheating.  So inevitably, Bill Simmons would tweet out a shot at Ray Lewis and start another firestorm of ESPN on ESPN violence.  Thankfully...
