Not only did Tom Brady show poor clock management at the end of the first half of the AFC Championship Game on Sunday, but he also had a questionable slide. The Patriots had a second-and-10 play at the Baltimore 10 with 24 seconds left in the half. Brady scrambled to his left and slid to avoid a tackle, but he pointed his leg up high and kicked Ravens safety Ed Reed in the leg. Baltimore safety Bernard Pollard ran toward the official to point out that Brady may have committed an unsportsmanlike play, but no penalty flag was thrown. Rather than call a timeout, Brady tried setting up the offense for another play. He took so long to get organized that New England didn’t get another chance to score a touchdown. Brady finally used the timeout with four seconds left, and New England kicked a field goal to go up 13-7. There is no doubt that Brady slid with his cleats high and aimed at Reed. The only question is whether he was trying to shield himself from a hit or inflict damage on his opponent. Below is a screenshot of the kick: The post Tom Brady slides with cleats high appeared first on Larry Brown Sports. • Tommy Brady is an azz hat.
  • As if Reed has never dished worse out..good grief..looked what he did to Branch back in Sept
  • And he was fined $22k in Sept and also in December $55k, so Brady be ready to pay up!
  • It looked as if Brady was looking right at the defender. He knew exactly what he was doing. I never saw a slide with a leg that high in the air. Come on Refs... pay attention. I am glad New England lost.
  • In football cheating only counts if you get caught. Pollard's
helmet to helmet hit on Ridley should have been flagged. He is
a cheap shot specialist. Hope the Niners break his leg.
  • Per NFL rules, the hit was not a penalty. Pollard was going for a tackle when Ridley lowered his head to brace for impact. The helmet-to-helmet contact was incidental, drawing no flag because the NFL rules do not protect running backs the same way they protect quarterbacks and receivers.Learn the rules please.
  • You're exactly right...except...Ridley initiated the contact with his helmet and paid the price for it! In addition, running plays don't count numbnuts! I guess you guys found out that playing against us is a little different than those 6 gimme games that you get every year in the AFC East. The AFC North plays Big Boy football and don't mind knocking you on your ass every play. Case in point...Wes Welker had a great game statistically, but he and his buddies sure seemed to get some "alligator arms" as the game went on! Plus, the greatest of all time Tommy Brady sure didn't look like it from the 2nd quarter on. I've got to tell you...I've seen some of the greatest of all time play...Unitas, Berry, Montana, Rice, Elway, Bradshaw...can't ever remember seeing them intimidated like I saw Tommy and Wes look on Sunday, and never heard any of their wives publish comments about their hubbies opponents. We gave you the trip to the Super Bowl last year and you couldn't even manage to win that one! This year, we just kicked your ass all over the field and eliminated all doubt! Too all of the experts who had those pansies 9 point favorites...THANK YOU!!!!!! I can't speak for everybody, but I sure got healthy!!! LOLOLOLOL
  • hope you break your leg

  • Ridley is the one who took a bad line. If he had not lowered HIS head, Pollard would have hit him in the torso. It *was* a terrible hit but the thing I find most disturbing is that Ridley was laying there on the field having a seizure (watch the replay closely and pay attention to his left arm--elevated, rigid, and shaking...classic seizure action) and guys all around were stepping on him and the sports medicine folks because they were more interested in who recovered the fumble than concerned about Ridley's health.
  • Brady MOST DEFINITELY knew what he was doing...I am NOT a Pats fan and I'm very happy they loss...they deserved to. And with a 'poor sport' coach, neither belong in any professional sports arena (especially the NFL).
  • I don't see how you can go after Suh and let Tom Brady go. I agree that he knew what he was doing. When other QBs slide, they curl up to protect both themselves and the ball. They DON'T kick at the defender.
  • Being a Steeler Fan was rough this year, but I tip my cap to the Ravens. I'm so happy that they beat the Pat's. It's not hard to hate the Patriots, especially when they are never called for plays like Brady made toward the end of the 1st half. If I were Ed Reed, and Brady would have kicked me there with his cleats (and no flag) I would have been waiting for Brady outside of the stadium. The Patriot's play this way because they never get called for anything. You can be sure that if Flacco did that, there would have been a penalty. Now Brady can go home and let Giselle lick his wounds. (AGAIN) LOL
  • Brady is a punk and should be thrown off a team called the Patriots! Just watch the footage of him during the National Anthem. Not standing still, no hand over heart, insteated he was bouncing around with his hands in his pockets. A SLAP IN THE FACE TO EVERY VETERAN! With 5 deployments under my belt for this country I find his selfish behavior and disrespect deplorable!!!!
  • I totally agree, soldier. His pose reeks of ARROGANCE but what can you expect with a coach like belichek///hank in burnsville, mn
  • Oh my I sat their on my couch angry over the same thing, I thought I was the only one whom noticed. I am not even a veteran but I respect those who have faught for freedom and I have much respect for our flag, Brady acted unconcerned. What an ass. So glad someone else pointed it out, now I know I am not alone. :)
  • Looked dirty to me by the way Brady looked at him as he went by
  • Screw football at this point, Jesus Lewis and the cry brothers! LETS GO PENS
  • Brady is nothing but a candy-aXX jerk.. He should be dancing with the idiots...not playing a man's sport... he is just a clown....
  • Amen go play tennis or something
  • Brady is a slug, and a little cry-baby whimp! Maybe Giselle forgot to change his diaper before the game! I am so happy NE got there a**es stomped.
  • You sound jealous.
  • It's not about jealousy it's about demeanor and respect for the game. It's about commadery and love of competition of a game made successful because of fans. Brady's demeanor is to look down on folks, he wines when things don't go his way, he acts like he is a God and he cheats his team and the sport with a leg kick like that and acts like he does nothing wrong but quick to criticize others. He is no Joe Montana and never will be, Joe had class that spread over to all teams, Brady is just a selfish snob. You can be the best and have the greatest success ever but if your not humble with those who pay your salary and the guys around you it will show out and destroy the person. Who the hell would want to be like Brady? Jealousy I think not.JS
  • OMG...you said it right there schndtryme. I agree completely!!!!
  • You hit the nail on the head, he is exactly that and should think of retiring since he has "lost it". Can't throw a ball anymore.
  • I've never seen a QB slide like that. They already get so much protection in the rules that defenses are afraid to touch them. That's why you are seeing so many yards on scrambles. In the 49er game, an Atlanta player tried to take Kapernick out of bounds gently, but Kapernick fought back and was able to get several more yards. Think QBs should get personal fouls called on them for sliding with their legs or a leg sticking up like that.
  • maybe he was trying to give baltimore a taste of their own medicine.....

bernard pollard is the king of the cheap shot.....

maybe brady should have aimed his cleat at him
  • maybe he should aim them at you
  • franlop and BMFuJAMFS,

Do your research and learn the rules before you spout your uneducated dribble. Every Pats Player that ended up hurt due to a Pollard tackle were all hurt from Legal tackles, not cheapshots. Some blantant cheapshots took place from the whiney Pats Sunday night in the form of Brady's kick and the helmet-to-helmet hit on Reed on a fair catch...neither one called by the refs. Sour grapes for those wanting to see Pats vs. 49ers. Even when your NE RB lowered his head attempting to punish a DB, Pollard applied the punishment to Ridley....KO!!!! The Ravens simply punished the pats in their backyard. Just admit it to yourself, go back to eating your chowder, and stop posting until you can get your facts straight.
  • Amazing... Even after a rear Baltimore win, players and fans are showing their true colors and class! Brady is a slug, overrated, etc... You are obviously not a true sports fan and have no appreciation for the game. The guy has the most playoff wins EVER! He has been to (7) AFC Championship games, (5) Superbowl Appearances & (3) Titles and if not for (2) great plays by the Giants in the closing seconds, he has (5) titles. With under 2 minutes left in 07 and last year, he led what would have been game winning drives. How does losing in that fashion in the SB tarnish his legacy? Not only that, the guy is a class act in every aspect of life. Baltimore has had a great playoff run and outright, outplayed NE in every aspect of the game and they deserved to win that game. Win with class - yeah, that means you, "T-Sizzle". Really? T-Sizzle? How old are you? You refer to yourself a T-Sizzle? T H U G !!
  • Look, The Ravens won, so why can't you just be happy for them and let that little whiny Brady go home. cheap shot on Reed, don't care who you cheer for...pay up Brady. Was a classless move on your part.

Which teams are most squarely on the bubble?

It’s January 27. Super Bowl week also marks the run-up to college basketball insanity. League titles for the most part will be won or lost in the month of February. Contenders and pretenders will show themselves with road wins and home losses. It’s part of what makes the sport so much fun. A large part of the debate doesn’t revolve around who the best teams are, especially...

Jerry Rice: Asterisk needed if Patriots win Super Bowl

Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice is the latest former NFL player to come out and question whether a potential New England Patriots victory in Super Bowl XLIX would be legitimate. “I think you have to really put an asterisk on it (a Super Bowl win), because this is going to follow them, you know, for the rest of their lives, because when you look at it, when people go back...

Winners and losers of the Senior Bowl

With fewer underclassmen declaring for the 2015 NFL Draft, what better way to see what this class has to offer than at the Senior Bowl on Saturday? The game produced several strong performers, but as most know, it is the performance through the week at practice for the scouts that makes or breaks an NFL prospect’s Senior Bowl as a whole. With this in mind, here is a list of...

Report: NFL approved under-inflated balls from Patriots

Many have questioned the role of the officials in Deflategate, and rightfully so. A huge part of the NFL’s investigation will be determining if the New England Patriots’ game balls were tested, approved and then had air taken out of them. According to one Boston sports radio station, only some of that happened. 98.5 The...Read More
