In 2011, Brian Waters performed at an All-Pro level and Patriots fans were thrilled at the thought of Waters returning. The watch for the veteran guard ended Friday when the deadline for players under contracts had to report to their teams. Waters had signed a 2 year contract; however, he never made it to the 2nd year. Waters never attended off-season training activities, training camp, or the rest of preseason. The common thought was Waters was looking for a bump in his salary, but reports that the Patriots offered a significant raise clouds the picture on the reason why Waters never put on a Patriots uniform in 2012. WEEI in Boston reported Sunday that the two sides had a deal in place that would bring back the 35-year-old offensive lineman back. However, November 30th was the deadline for players under contract to come off the reserve/did not report list and effectively ends the hunt for Waters.
