Right or wrong, ok mostly right, Ndamukong Suh has a reputation of being a “dirty” player. Sporting News did a poll last season midway through the year asking players to name the dirtiest player and Suh came out on top. One of the players who voted was quoted as saying:
“Ndamukong Suh. I mean, the step-on and the choke and the kick and the arm bar. Enough said, right?” —NFC defensive player
Here are how the votes broke out:
Lions DT Ndamukong Suh — 32
Dolphins G Richie Incognito — 19
Rams CB Cortland Finnegan — 14
Steelers LB James Harrison — 6
Titans OT David Stewart — 3
Eagles DE Jason Babin — 2
Steelers S Ryan Mundy — 2
Is Suh dirty or does he just push and bend the rules? You be the judge.
BEST OF MAXIM
NOT SO MUCH
It is hard to believe that 15 years ago, Barry Sanders abruptly retired from the NFL. He has never quite opened up completely to place blame on the Detroit Lions and their mistakes in the front office to surround him with a team that could win, or a coach that he could trust. I mean, he loved Wayne Fontes, but never warmed up to Bobby Ross. Sanders, on the eve of training camp in...
Ezekiel “Ziggy” Ansah caught plenty of eyes during draft season.
Lions coach Jim Schwartz says Ansah’s inconsistency has left the best unseen.

Even though it is just the preseason, I think it would be foolish for a team to not take Ndamukong Suh seriously any and every time he steps onto the football field. The Lions take on the Patriots this Thursday during Week 3 of the preseason and the defensive tackle is looking forward to the […]
Sports Fans, Who is excited for the return of football? I personally can’t wait, and have been watching a good amount of preseason football for some reason. My favorite team is the Lions and while watching one of their games and with the help of writer Eric Huberman, I stumbled upon my new favorite Lion. He hails from Norway and his name is Havard Rugland a.k.a Kickalicious. He...
Deadspin has the details on how Kevin Smith interacted with a Lions intern in 2008. The details speak for themselves:
I spent the 2008 season interning in the sports department of The Detroit News, mainly covering the Tigers (not a bad gig) …and the Lions.
I was 19 years old, a college sophomore from a liberal arts school. Throughout my five weeks at training camp and preseason...
The Detroit Lions lost one of their three starting linebackers in free agency. His likely replacement will be a familiar face.
Ashlee Palmer, who saw plenty of action on special teams last season, will join Stephen Tulloch and DeAndre Levy in the middle of the defense this season. He replaces starter Justin Durant, who's now battling for a job in Dallas.
The lead trio also...
It's the third exhibition game, which means more playing time for the starters, the closest the preseason comes to simulating the regular season.
The Detroit Lions take on Tom Brady and the New England Patriots Thursday night at Ford Field.
The Lions would like to see the first-team offense come to life and score its first touchdown of the preseason while the defense needs...
Within the span of 24 hours, wide receiver Mike Thomas was released by the Detroit Lions and then promptly signed by the Arizona Cardinals. Still only 26 years old, Mike Thomas was a huge let down in Detroit. The Lions gave up a 5th round draft pick to acquire Thomas mid-season in 2012 to help with the rash of injuries to the receiving corp. Even after all the trouble the Lions have...
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn.--The Minnesota Vikings added a bit of defensive line depth on Tuesday by signing defensive end Spencer Nealy, according to the team's official Twitter account.Nealy, an undrafted rookie out of Texas A&M, spent time this summer with the Detroit Lions but was released on Aug. 1. Nealy was listed by Detroit at 6-foot-3 and 285 pounds. He's played both...
ALLEN PARK, Mich. A popular line around NFL camps these days is that the preseason games dont count but they matter.
For Detroit Lions rookie cornerback Darius Slay, this next one counts and matters.
It appears that Slay has a chance to lock down a starting job for the regular-season opener with a strong performance in Thursdays exhibition against New England at Ford Field.
Just a day after being released by the Lions, receiver Mike Thomas signed with the Cardinals on Tuesday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com. Less than a year ago, the Lions acquired Thomas from the Jaguars in exchange for a 2014 fifth round pick.
