After releasing Ty Warren and Marcus Stroud many New England Patriots fans wondered who would start at the 3-4 left end position across from nose tackle Vince Wilfork and 3-4 right end Albert Haynesworth. Haynesworth was obtained by trade with the Washington Redskins. The New England Patriots managed to obtain 3-4 left end Shaun Ellis who managed to stuff the run and pass rush for the New York Jets.
Ellis played an integral role in the New York Jets playoff upset over the New England Patriots last season. Now that Ellis jumped ship in the AFC East by leaving the Rival Jets to join the New England Patriots this gives New England a formidable defensive line.
New England’s defense should be able to make an impact as long this defensive line stays healthy. The sack numbers could improve despite the fact that New England has no pass rushing sack artist at this point.
