New Orleans Saints (0-3) at Green Bay Packers (1-2) The Saints and Packers are a combined 1-5 three weeks in the season. Raise your hand if you saw that coming. I strangely see no hands. This is a huge, must win game for both teams, and given that we should expect huge performances from both quarterbacks. You know it’s really not sitting well with both of these quarterbacks that they are where they are right now. Aaron Rodgers has lost more games than he did all last regular season and Brees has lost the same amount. Given that, it’s pretty tough to know what to expect from this game. However, I do think it’s more likely than Aaron Rodgers and company has a huge offensive game than Drew Brees and company. For one, Brees’ struggles are explainable. He’s without Head Coach Sean Payton and he looks eerily similar to the quarterback he was in San Diego, before his injury of course, and before meeting up with Sean Payton. Aaron Rodgers’ struggles are less explainable. Greg Jennings’ hasn...

Why I Traded Drew Brees

Brees has played three of the NFL's worst defenses so far - Redskins, Panthers, and Chiefs - with two of those matchups at home.  Nonetheless, Brees has "just" 904 passing yards, 7 TDs vs. 5 INTs, and a 6.7 YPA.  Not awful stats, certainly, but they're a far cry from the Brees we saw in 2011.  I spent a fair amount of time this week trying to figure out which...

Not used to losing, Saints search for answers

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- This is new territory for quarterback Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints. Super Bowl champions just 31 months ago, the Saints are now a mess. Their head coach is suspended for the entire season. Their interim head coach is suspended until Week 7, and their interim interim head coach has led them to a 0-3 record. Traveling to Lambeau Field this Sunday, it'...

Packers OL aims to keep Rodgers upright vs. Saints

(Eds: Updates. With AP Photos.) By CHRIS JENKINS AP Sports Writer For all the Green Bay Packers' complaints about a mistake by replacement officials that cost them a game Monday night, they probably wouldn't have been in position to lose on a last-second play if their offensive line had done a better job protecting Aaron Rodgers in the first half. Going into Sunday's...

Rodgers, Packers try to move past referee debacle

One day after venting on his radio show about the refereeing debacle that cost the Green Bay Packers a game in Seattle, Aaron Rodgers saved one last barb for the NFL. Asked Wednesday about how the Packers were handling the aftermath of a Monday night loss that touched off a national firestorm about the league's use of replacement officials, Rodgers dismissed an NFL-issued statement...

Rodgers says loss will have positive effect

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- When the referees walked into the Packers' locker room just moments after Monday night's now-infamous touchdown ruling in Seattle, linebacker A.J. Hawk thought it was going to be good news."I thought they were going to tell us we won the game, honestly," Hawk said Wednesday. "I think a lot of people thought that. But they were saying we had...

Packers, Saints struggles: Return of the defense?

The New Orleans Saints and Green Bay Packers have been two of the NFC’s best for the past 3 years and have had some of the most explosive offenses in history, largely due to the play of their all-pro QBs, Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers. This year, the pass-happy offenses that lit up the league [...] [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

Saints defense needs a new attitude

The last quarterback the NFL's lowest-ranked defense should want to face next? Aaron Rodgers. But if the New Orleans Saints are going to rise from the league basement, finding a way to stymie the NFL's reigning Most Valuable Player is a must in Sunday's game at Green Bay (4:25 p.m. ET kickoff, FOX). Among the biggest reasons for the Saints' 0-3 start is a defense...
