New Orleans Saints Coach Sean Payton and his wife are the latest to file suit in federal court against Kevin Houser, the team’s former long snapper, alleging Houser was part of an investment scam that snared several Saints players and coaches. The Paytons’ suit, filed Monday in U.S. District Court, is nearly identical to one filed 10 days earlier by star tight end Jeremy Shockey and recently released defensive end Charles Grant. The only significant differences in wording are over details of the Paytons’ specific purchases of film tax credits through Houser — tax credits that never existed. Houser was the longest-tenured Saints player when he was cut by the team before the 2009 season as news of the tax-credit fiasco emerged — New Orleans Times-Picayune
