The Saints injury list has gotten longer over the last few weeks and with only two games left, that have major implications on their playoff aspirations, it’s not a good sign that the team will be without some key players when they face the Atlanta Falcons.

Tight end David Thomas has been ruled out for the second straight week after suffering a minor lateral meniscus tear in his knee in week 14 against the Rams. He underwent a scope procedure to determine the severity of the injury and his expected recovery team has always been two weeks.

While Thomas is a definite commodity for the Saints the good news is that rookie tight end Jimmy Graham has played well this this season so far catching three touchdown passes including two last week at Baltimore.

Running back Chris Ivory has also been ruled out of tonight’s game with the same hamstring injury he has been nursing for the last two weeks. The Saints rush offense struggles without him in the lineup last week at Baltimore resulting in a combined rushing total of 27 yards, hopefully Pierre Thomas, Reggie Bush and Julius Jones can find moe success against the Falcons.

Return specialist Courtney Roby has also been ruled out after practicing with the team in full this week, Roby was took a knee to the neck in week 14 and was hospitalized briefly after the incident.

Also inactive for the Saints are safety Usama Young, linebacker Kawika Mitchell, defensive end Junior Galette and offensive tackle Charles Brown.

Atlanta’s in-actives are John Parker Wilson, corner back Dominique Franks, running back Antone Smith, linebacker Spencer Adkins, offensive tackle Garrett Reynolds, guard Mike Johnson, defensive end Lawrence Shelby and defensive tackle Trey Lewis.
