New Patriots DL Marcus Stroud plans to “prove that I still got a lot of good years of football left”

The Patriots offseason has been, like most teams, sleepy. The lockout has prevented almost everyone from doing almost anything. Still, coach Bill Belichick did manage to sneak one move in under the wire.
He signed veteran defensive lineman Marcus Stroud.
The Patriots inked Stroud right before the deadline, igniting a debate about how productive he can be at age 32. Is Stroud the next Joey Galloway (bad) or Gerard Warren (good)?
Stroud has not addressed any of these questions or even discussed his thoughts on joining the Patriots since he signed. Or, rather, he hadn’t until this week. I spoke on the phone with Stroud at length, hitting on a variety of topics.
The result was this story in today’s Boston Herald.
“I’m very excited to be part of the Patriots right now, definitely,” Stroud told me, giving his first reaction to the move. “That’s my main focus, just to be able to come up there and try to help as much as I can.”
