The New York Giants apparently worked out wide receivers Brandon Stokley, TJ Houshmanzadeh, and former Jet David Clowney today at practice—they reached an agreement with the 35 year old Stokley shortly there after.
Stokley was once one of the most revered slot receivers in the game, his best season coming with the Colts catching passes for big brother Peyton Manning.
Now that he is in big blue, he’ll have the opportunity to catch passes from little brother, or will he?
It’s unclear at this point what type of role Stokley will have in the offense. Certainly it won’t be easy to come in and learn a new system, but if the Giants can bring him in on third down situations, maybe he’ll be better in the slot then their current options.
This move is either in direct response to Hakeem Nicks’ knee injury, or the fact that neither Domenik Hixon nor Victor Cruz have stepped up as the slot guy.
