So who will step up and fill the void? The answer could be three year pro Bear Pascoe. The 26 year old, former sixth round pick by the San Francisco 49ers suddenly finds himself in excellent position to claim the number one tight end position. The irony is that Pascoe and Ballard happen to be very good friends and were actually roommates during their time together on the Giants. When asked about their relationship, Pascoe had nothing but good things to say. "Me and him were real close," he said. "You hate to see him go, but you wish him ...

Patriots Surprise Some by Claiming Former Giants TE Jake Ballard

the Patriots decided to bring aboard Ballard but why? Waived a day ago after failing his physical, tight end Jake Ballard will not be making a return to the New York Giants like he originally thought. Instead, the third-year player out of Ohio State has been claimed by the New England Patriots. “As I stated yesterday a ‘smart’ football organization might claim Jake...

Patriots pick up Jake Ballard

According to Jake Ballard’s agent Blake Baratz, his client was claimed off waivers by the New England Patriots on Tuesday. Ballard was waived on Monday by the New York Giants, who were likely going to place him on injured reserve once he cleared waivers, but he didn’t. Ballard likely won’t play a down in 2012 for the Patriots, since he’s still recovering from offseason microfracture su...

Patriots Claim Former Giants Tight End Jake Ballard off Waivers

The New England Patriots claimed injured tight end Jake Ballard off waivers Tuesday after he was waived by the New York Giants. The Patriots also placed rookie tight end Brad Herman on injured reserve. Despite five other rostered tight ends, including Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez, the Patriots saw enough value in Ballard to add a sixth tight end to the squad. Ballard tore his...

Ballard picked up off Waivers by the Patriots

TE Jake Ballard was picked up by the Patriots off of waivers.  Jerry Reese made a calculated risk, and there was one team out there that called him on it.  This is a money and roster spot issue. The link contains the more detailed explanation of what the Patriots had to do in order to secure his services.  The way that I understand it, he takes a roster spot and essentially costs...

Patriots claim Jake Ballard

Earlier this week, when the New York Giants released Jake Ballard, their starting tight end last season, for injury reasons, there was immediate speculation, fueled by comments by Ballard’s agent himself, that Ballard would be resigned by the Giants in 2013 when he was fully healthy. However, that is no longer going to happen because the Patriots put in a waiver claim for him and...

Jake Ballard claimed by Patriots, Giants Tom Coughlin upset

The New York Giants waived TE Jake Ballard earlier this week with the team planning to re-sign the injured player and place him on the injured reserve list. The best laid plans sometime go awry as the New England Patriots swooped in and plucked the tight end off the waiver wire, keeping him from returning to the Giants. The Patriots shrewd move has drawn the ire of New York Giants...

Bill Belichick Refutes Breaking 'Unwritten Rules' in Signing Jake Ballard Away From Giants

Bill Belichick was able to exact little bit of revenge on the New York Giants for their Super Bowl victory, on Tuesday. But the move left a sour taste in the mouth of Giants head coach Tom Coughlin on Wednesday afternoon. The Patriots claimed recently jettisoned Giants tight end Jake Balled off waivers on Tuesday, after the Giants let go of the injured tight end. Ballard is coming...

Giants Upset At Losing Ballard

New York's head coach Tom Coughlin doesn't agree with the GM Jerry Reese's assessment that losing TE Jake Ballard to the Patriots via the waiver wire was a risk that they had to take. Reese told SiriusXM NFL Radio that that's a risk when you waive a player trying to get him onto a reserve list.

Giants Coach shows signs of anger towards Patriots

Tom Coughlin apparently isn’t too happy with the Patriots recent move of claiming tight end Jake Ballard. USA Today  quoted Coughlin stating his anger. “Discourage is a minor description,” he said. “Very disappointing.” Bilichick also expressed his feelings, and also helped Coughlin understand the rules of the wavier wire.  Look, anytime you put a player on waivers...

Take A Breath Tommy

Settle down, Tom, will ya? Tom Coughlin is up in arms because the Giants waived Jake Ballard and the Patriots had the nerve to sneak in and pick him up – which is what you’re supposed to do when you want a player and he is on waivers. I realize that Bill Belichick is evil, but it’s really hard to blame him in this situation. He realized that Ballard is good, so he claimed...
