After recording his second Super Bowl victory for the New York Giants, the franchise rewarded head coach Tom Coughlin with a three-year contract extension. The extension is worth a reported $20 million dollars and locks up Coughlin as the head coach of the Giants through the 2014 season. Coughlin’s record with the Giants has been impressive, leading them to two Super Bowl Championships, record tying eight playoff wins and two division titles in just the last five seasons. Despite his success with the Giants, Coughlin’s tenure with the Giants has been controversial at best with fans often calling for his job. He was able to keep the Giants in the mix last season despite having a team which was decimated by injuries early on. At one point in the season, the Giants had an overall record of 6-6 and the chorus of calls for Coughlin’s job were loud and clear. Coughlin was able to receive a vote of confidence from the Giants front office and remain head coach after a horrendous 2006 season...
