The New York Giants played two games in one against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at MetLife Stadium.

In the 1st half, the Giants couldn’t get on track as Tampa Bay dominated them to a 24-13 halftime lead. In the second half, it seemed the Giants got a wake up call and outscored the Buccaneers 28-10 (25 points in the 4th quarter). Eli Manning played the role of goat and hero as he put the Giants into a hole in the 1st half by throwing 3 interceptions.

In the 2nd half, Manning took over with 3 TD passes to Nicks (23 Yards), Cruz (80 Yards) and Bennett (33 yards). The Giants had 604 total yards (94 yards rushing) and the Defense held the Buccaneers to 307 total yards (79 yards rushing).

Aside from Manning's heroics, the Giants other unsung hero was Andre Brown (13 carries/71 yards Rushing) who replaced an injured Ahmad Bradshaw and gave the Giants the lead for good late in the 4th quarter on a 2 yard run.

As expected, The Giants secondary were over matched by the Buccaneers WR’s Vincent Jackson (5/128) and Michael Williams (3/59) with each scoring a TD. The Giants defense played good enough to win this game, but they need to pick it up if they intend to be a playoff contending team.

Footnote: The Giants seemed to be heading for a 0-2 start after their first half performance, fortunately; Manning was able to carry this team to victory and give the Giants their first win of the season.  I can’t tell you if this win will give the Giants momentum entering into next week’s match up with the Panthers. I will tell you that this team is not good enough to not play 60 minutes of football.

Nine times out of ten, this game would have resulted in a loss, so the Giants need to take a good look in the mirror Monday morning. As for the injury to Ahmad Bradshaw, the seriousness of his neck injury is currently unknown. Whether he is able to play next week against the Panthers is undetermined. As for the makeup of this team, the Giants will go as far as Manning can carry them.
