The Giants are coming off a Super Bowl Victory on Sunday night over the New England Patriots.  This isn't easy to do when they are still celebrating, they had their parade down the Canyon of Heroes today in New York City and then back at Metlife stadium they had a rally.  They are sleep deprived and haven't been able to think about anything other then being champions and celebrating another World Championship.  Here are some of the offseason needs of the team.

The Giants don't have any real issues right now.  The Giants need to look at their potential free agents.  Brandon Jacobs may be the biggest name that could leave in free agency.  Jacobs is outspoken and he didn't play that well all year but he seemed to play a little better in the postseason.  It was assumed that after this season he would no doubt be gone but after the game he spoke about wanting to remain with the Giants and retire as a Giant.  I still think it is likely he is gone, the Giants probably aren't going to want to pay him what he wants.

The Giants could always use a linebacker.  That position which was always a strength seems to be a weakness now.  The defense had a remarkable turnaround though and I think part of that was the signing of Chase Blackburn.  He was a substitute teacher before coming back in week ten I believe it was.  He after a couple of rusty weeks seemed to be the missing piece, he played really well and the Giants will need to bring him back.  The Giants secondary seemed to be really weak but part of that was losing Terrel Thomas in the preseason.  Thomas coming back would be a big boost to that unit, also the experience they got this season and on this run to the Super Bowl will be very helpful.  I think the Giants will be ok in that position, Prince Akamura who is a rookie got some experience and will only get better.

The special teams was a plus, I would assume they will retain Steve Weatherford who was really valuable for them.  I don't see any major needs on the team.  I would guess those are the things that they will look at.  I am pretty sure they will retain most of their free agents.  If it isn't broke why fix it, they have a lot of good young players and they can be good for years to come.  The pass rush of course is their bread and butter and they are set there which also helps their secondary.

In conclusion I would say that if they want to look and improve, they should look at the linebackers, secondary and maybe another running back other then Brandon Jacobs.  I think the receiving corps is set and of course the quarterback isn't going anywhere.  Ahmad Bradshaw will be their premiere running back.  There isn't much for them to look at but I am sure they will try and see where they can improve.  The Giants won't rest on their laurels and that is part of what makes them a great franchise.
