The Giants did not draft an outside linebacker until the final pick in the 6th round, so are they looking to sign someone in free agency to shore up the position until a more elite prospect comes out in the draft? One guy that caught my eye was former Giant and Super Bowl XLII champion Kawika Mitchell, who flourished in Steve Spagnuolo’s pressure defense during the 2007 season. He cashed in on a solid season by signing with the Buffalo Bills, and is now an unrestricted free agent with the Saints. Could the Giants bring him back at low cost much like they did with Deon Grant? Absolutely. Mitchell played outside linebacker for the Giants’ 4-3 system that year and spent one year with the Saints, although he only appeared in one game. Injuries cut short his second season with the Bills, but his season with the Giants and first with the Bills were very productive, totalling 158 tackles and seven sacks combined. I can distinctly remember Mitchell playing well in pass coverage...
