Prior to the 2011 season, Brandon Jacobs took a $1.7 million pay cut in order to stay with the Giants, helping them re-sign Ahmad Bradshaw in the process. Evidently, he is willing to do the same in 2012.
Jacobs has a $500,000 roster bonus set to kick in if he is still with the team in March, on top of his $4.4 million salary he is set to collect in 2012. He obviously does not think the Giants will keep him making that kind of money.
The Giants franchise leader in rushing touchdowns says he is open to another pay cut, “as long as it’s fair.”
“I just want everything to be fair. I feel like I put a lot of hard work and dedication into what I do as well and whatever their plans are to try to keep me around here, hopefully we can get it discussed and get things figured out because this is where I want to be.”
