Mark Sanchez and the first-string offense for the New York Jets continued to struggle in a 26-3 loss to the New York Giants in the annual MetLife Bowl.

The Jets have yet to score a touchdown in two complete preseason outings.

Sanchez played the entire first half, throwing for 59 yards.

Along with being sacked three times, Sanchez had no touchdowns and threw one costly interception for a pick-six by Jayron Hosley, who ran the ball for a 77-yard score early in the second quarter.

"I think it was a little bit behind Patrick Turner ," said Sanchez of the pick-six in a sideline interview with CBS-2 during the game. "We've  got to be able to put the ball in the end zone. And we've got to convert in short yardage situations," continued Sanchez.

That's not likely to happen when the passing offense under Sanchez averages only 6.5 yards per completion. Sanchez completed nine passes on 11 attempts, but there were no big-yardage plays.

"They don't have the big play," said Kurt Warner of the NFL Network during halftime. "Their offense wasn't designed to take the ball down the field. And it was the same in this first half," offered Warner. "They've got to find some big play makers."

Tim Tebow and the second-string offense were at least able to put some points on the board for the Jets. Tebow led the offense on a 68-yard drive culminating in a 30-yard field goal by Josh Brown. Tebow completed four passes during the drive, all for 10 yards or more. He also rushed for a crucial first down to keep the drive alive.

Tebow ended the game 5-of-14 passing for 69 yards. His average yards per completion was more than two times that of Sanchez.

As the first-stringers struggle their way into their third preseason game, versus the Carolina Panthers, Sanchez and company should expect the fans and the New York media to increase their scrutiny. Sanchez needs a strong outing to quell the uproar or  it may be full time Tebow Time in New York.
