The New York Jets finally released their 53-man roster, being one of the last teams to do so. They cut one quarterback leaving four men in the quarterback position. Here is a list of those cut from the offensive skilled position and a short analysis of who remains:Quarterback: Greg McElroy, with injuryDoes this mean that McElroy will not be the Jet who will be the breakout player of 2013? The Jets released McElroy. They still have four quarterbacks on their roster. The quarterbacks who survived the cuts are: newly acquired Graham Harrell, famous son Matt Simms, newly injured Mark Sanchez and famous second-round acquisition Geno Smith.  For the time being the Jets will carry four quarterbacks on their roster. The surprise is not that McElroy was cut due to injury, but that four quarterbacks are still standing. If McElroy is not claimed off waivers, the Jets could retain his services and put him on the injured reserve. While the New England Patriots rarely carry more than two quarterbacks on the roster, the Jets stack it up with four. But the problem may very well be quality not quantity.Running Back: Joe McKnight and Mossis MaduIn all fairness, McKnight was released before the last cuts. McKnight was often overcome with mystery illnesses during preseason. However, the most interesting aspect of McKnight is his twitter rant regarding ESPN. McKnight is not a fan.  With the quarterback situation a green gooey mess, the Jets will need a stalwart running game. Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell appear to head this daunting task.Wide Receivers: Michael Campbell, Mohamed Massaquoi, Ben Obomanu and Zach RogersThe men remaining include Santonio Holmes whose return from injury remains questionable even to him. Second-year player Stephen Hill ,who has to become more reliable. Training camp darling Clyde Gates remains as does slot receiver Jeremy Kerley who was the No. 1 receiver last year. It is hard to be optimistic regarding any wide receiver corp when the quarterback situation is so depressing.Tight End: Chris PantaleKellen Winslow Jr.  remains,  If he lives up to his potential he could become a quarterback's best friend. Preseason did not offer a glimpse of that potential but it was only preseason, right?Kicker: Dan CarpenterThe kicker competition ended up being as flaccid as the quarterback competition. Nick Folk remains the last man standing.Players can be acquried  off of waivers. IF the Jets wander into waivers players remaining are still not safe.  Hey, I hear Tim Tebow is available. What's one more quarterback?
