The New York Jets traveled to Atlanta to meet the Falcons. The Jets entered the game a 10-point underdog. They left the game with a two point win. Who knew? Here are three things we do know:Geno Smith are you for real?Last week against the Tennessee Titans, Smith committed two turnovers. It started with an interception with his first pass from scrimmage and just got worse. What a difference a week makes. This week Smith passed for 199 yards with three touchdown passes and zero interceptions. After Matt Ryan led the Falcons to a fourth quarter drive to put his team ahead, Smith was given two minutes.  That was enough time for the rookie. Smith completed three passes driving his team down the field. He then ran out of reach of the defense for eight more yards getting to Atlanta's 38 yard line. Nick Folk's 43-yard field goal completed the drive with no time left and the Jets ahead 30-28.Smith was impressive. He was fearless. He might even be for real.Jets Defense is for real! The Jets' defense played a complete game. The match-ups were gladiator-like. Antonio Cromartie versus Julio Jones. Yes, Jones managed 99 yards on eight receptions, including a one-handed grab that was nothing short of miraculous. Jones did not see the end zone. Cromartie battled. He lost some battles. But eventually the Jets won. Sheldon Richardson was everywhere. Someone explain to me how a 6'3", 294-pound defensive tackle could be everwhere, but he was. Richardson finished the night with five tackles, one sack and multiple swats, hurries and bat downs. It was impressive. Muhammad Wilkerson, aside from being the object of Jon Gruden's affection was a stud. Wilkerson had seven tackles, one sack and one forced fumble. Stud.Rex Ryan has found his calling. This defense is for real. Sometimes fortune does not favor the braveDuring the first half, and for most of the game the Falcons could not muster a running game against the Jets. Yet with one second to go before halftime, on the one yard line the Falcons attempted to run for the touchdown instead of kicking a field goal. Jacquizz Rodgers rushed to the right. Sheldon Richardson tackled him before he reached the end zone. From the one yard line. Goal-line stand. What did we learn?Smith can play. He will have his bad games. But he has some good in him too.The Jets' defense is for real. Rex Ryan may have nine lives after all. Now about that tattoo.
