It appears the New York Jets will be getting one of their top college scouts back for the upcoming 2012 NFL Draft in April.
The St. Louis Rams are looking for a new general manager, and they interviewed Jets’ vice president of college scouting Joey Clinkscales (above, between team owner Woody Johnson and head coach Rex Ryan) for the job.
Jenny Vrentas of the Star-Ledger is reporting that Clinkscales is out of the running in St. Louis, which means the long-time Jets scout will likely return as VP of college scouting for another season.
The 47-year-old Clinkscales, who briefly played wide receiver in the NFL in the late 1980s, has held that position with the Jets for the last four seasons. He’s worked in the Jets scouting department for the last 17 years.
As Vrentas points out, the NFL scouting combine begins in less than two weeks, so the Jets are probably pretty happy they’ve got all of their scouts back for this crucial period of player evaluation.
Clinkscales has...

Brandon Jacobs willing to play for the Jets
Earlier today we reported that New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs is willing to take a pay cut, in order to come back next season to try and win another Super Bowl.
Jacobs also stated he wouldn’t be against playing for the Jets and head coach Rex Ryan, according to Sam Borden of the New York Times.
Despite Jacobs’ outburst towards Ryan after December&rsquo...
Brandon Jacobs open to playing for Jets after ripping Rex Ryan
Overpaid players like Brandon Jacobs just don’t get it sometimes. When the team you are currently playing could decide you aren’t worth the nearly $5 million they would have to pay to retain you, it’s best to not burn any bridges across the league. That is especially true for someone like Jacobs, who won’t exactly have teams lining up to extend an offer. Just...

TOJ Monday Morning Rant: New York Jets Pass Rush
Considering the disappointment of the 2011 NFL season, I find it fitting to kick off the next few weeks with a rant. Today’s topic is the New York Jets pass rush…or lack thereof.
In 2005, John Abraham had 10.5 sacks for the Jets defense. It is the last time a player on their defense has recorded double digit sacks in a single season. We are on six seasons and counting...

NFL OPINION; THE LOMBARDI CLUB
So I am like most NFL fans during this first post NFL week. I MISS FOOTBALL! The Super Bowl is over and we are left to wait for the NFL draft, the Peyton Manning saga to sort itself out, the Redskins to do something utterly stupid ( yet to be determined), Rex Ryan to declare the Jets Champs, etc.
But I love NFL football. Hence a conversation I had recently with a good friend. Our...
In depth: New York Jets
After advancing to consecutive AFC Championship games, the New York Jets had every reason to approach 2011 with confidence that the team could make the next step.
But by the end of the season, the Jets were out of the playoffs and the team was in disarray, with Santonio Holmes getting benched at the end of a must-win game and Mark Sanchez leaving doubts about his status as the quarterback...
Jacobs: I'd play for Jets
Maybe it's Valentine's Day that has Brandon Jacobs ready to kiss and make up with Rex Ryan. More likely, though, it's the looming reality that his tenure with the Giants soon will come to an end.
