New England Patriots
The New England Patriots, as well as several other NFL teams are not done tweaking their final 53-man roster. Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting this afternoon that the New England Patriots have acquired St. Louis Rams WR Greg Salas for a conditional pick. Salas, a Hawaii product, suffered a serious leg injury last season but played under current Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.
The Patriots roster was full of veteran wide receivers just two weeks ago, and after the move to reach the 53-man roster yesterday, only four receivers remained. Deion Branch, Jabar Gaffney and Donte Stallworth have all moved on.
Salas logged 27 receptions in six games last year for the Rams before suffering a season ending broken leg. The Patriots aren't done jumbling their wide receiver corps just yet. After spending the offseason and trading camp acquiring dozens of pass-catchers only to turn most of them loose in recent weeks, New England has acquired a new threat: wide receiver Greg Salas, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. St. Louis traded wide receiver Greg Salas to the New England Patriots for a late...
Throughout Bill Belichick’s tenure, the Patriots have long been known as a team that has no problem going against the grain and parting ways with talented players. Whether it’s due to the numbers game or a financial issue, sentimentality is not big in New England.
The Pats seem to make these moves annually and … well, this year is no different.
According to multiple reports...
When Julian Edelman first took the field at Gillette Stadium in 2009, the former college quarterback knew that his role was going to change. What he didn't know is that it might never stop. One season into his professional career and the seventh-round draft pick was already drawing wild expectations. After hauling in 37 receptions during his rookie campaign, including a six-catch...
Trimming any NFL roster from 75 down to the league-mandated 53 during the last week of the preseason always offers up some tough decisions as well as a few big surprises. On Friday, the Patriots were prepared to send 22 deserving guys packing and they also weren't afraid to make the bold decision. Bill Belichick released three big-name players during Friday's final roster...
Robert Kraft has made it clear: He sees Tom Brady as a fifth son. So with that in mind, take a guess as to where he thinks Brady ranks among the NFL's all-time quarterbacks. Clearly forgetting that guys like Tim Tebow, Sage Rosenfels and Rex Grossman are still destined for greatness, Kraft immediately compared Brady to Joe Montana recently. The Patriots owner is hardly the first...
Well, it's all mercifully over. The Turk made twenty two visits in all, including a a few notables and a few definite suprises that we reported on earlier.
Something interesting here going on with the Pats - they've released quite a few wide receivers, a position that was a surplus at the beginning of camp. In addition to Donte Stallworth and the surprise cuts of Jabar...
Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots have once again shown the rest of the NFL why they are willing to make any move in order to win. That includes cutting veterans and players who started on the team just last season. Among Thursday’s roster cuts were WR Deion Branch, QB Brian Hoyer, OL Dan Koppen, S Sergio Brown and S James Ihedigbo, and roster long shots LB Aaron Lavarias...
The day started with the Patriots needing to cut 22 players and some knew they were long shots to make the team, but in the end, the team let go some veterans who most thought were safe.

The Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots have some history when it comes to players leaving one team and joining the other. Sometimes, it works, and the player enjoys much more success with their new team than they did while a member of their former franchise.
When Wes Welker was acquired by the Patriots from the Dolphins, it was then that he became a household name and one of...
Chris Givens in particular stands to pick up plays that might otherwise have gone to Greg Salas.
The New York Jets have a cavalier attitude toward their draft picks, having already waived four of their eight selections from the 2012 draft. The Rams' 2012 picks and college free agents have no such worries: an astounding 15 rookies are on the roster, with 10 slated to start...
