Safety Dashon Goldson's flattening of Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Early Doucet was a legal hit, the NFL confirmed Friday. Goldson was not penalized during the game, and the NFL announced he would not be fined, either. That outcome did not come as a surprise to 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh or Goldson. "Vince Lombardi would be proud," Harbaugh said Monday night after the 49ers' 24-3 victory over the Cardinals. Goldson avoided helmet-to-helmet contact as he leveled Doucet while breaking up a fourth-quarter pass across the middle. Source: Comcast Sports Attached Thumbnails

NFL Rules Against 49ers On QB Alex Smith Appeal

Alex Smith's 18-of-19 passing line Monday night will stand after the Elias Sports Bureau concluded a potential 20th pass attempt was indeed a run by Michael Crabtree, Cam Inman of Bayareanewsgroup reports. The league's record book requires a minimum of 20 attempts to qualify for the highest completion percentage in a game. Crabtree caught a backward pass from Smith to...

49ers avoid slippage after turnaround season

The San Francisco 49ers are bucking a trend. Most teams that go from having losing records one year to posting 10 or more wins the next year typically fall back to 9-7 or worse in the third year of the cycle. According to the Pro Football Post's Joe Fortenbaugh, 29 teams have gone from a sub-.500 record to an above-.500 record over the past 10 years. In 26 of those cases...

Vernon Davis Gets A Fade

High and tight Juan…  Somehow Vernon Davis is still a top 5 TE in fantasy.  After starting the season on fire with 4 TDs in the first 3 games, he has only 6 fantasy points in the last 3 games combined.  I still think the 49ers will get this figured out and Davis is a nice buy low candidate. Patrick Willis Proves You Must 'Trust Your Power' to Accomplish Great Things in Life (Video)

Patrick Willis has established himself as one of the best defensive players in the NFL. And while the 49ers linebacker is physically gifted, it's what's inside of Willis that has brought him to new heights. Willis has been selected to the Pro Bowl in each of his first five NFL seasons after enjoying a standout college career at Ole Miss. Things haven'...

Kevin Kolb Is Still A Few Weeks Away From Returning

It doesn’t look like Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb will be returning to field any time soon. “Kolb has been doing some light throwing but doesn’t appear close to being ready to play,” writes Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic. Kolb was injured during Week 6′s loss to the Bills when he suffered multiple detached ribs. It would a surprise if he is able to play before...

Honeybadger moves in with Patrick Peterson’s family to get away from Louisiana

Jennifer Hale of WVUE reports that Mathieu has moved to South Florida, where he’ll live with the family of Cardinals defensive back Patrick Peterson. Peterson, who attended LSU, and Mathieu are close friends.  After Peterson left LSU, Mathieu changed to No. 7, which had been worn by Peterson in Baton Rouge. Per Hale, Mathieu hopes to escape negative influences in Louisiana, where...

Fitzgerald limited by Cards' offensive woes

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) -- The Cardinals' offensive woes have limited their ability to take advantage of one of the best wide receivers in the game. A weak offensive line, erratic quarterback play and a largely ineffective running game have meant that defenses can zero in on Larry Fitzgerald more than ever, and he was already drawing plenty of attention. One of the game's best...

Patrick Willis And His Brother Hang At The Club

We tore this sh*t up Juan…  The 49ers defense is just plain nasty led by the best LB in the business Patrick Willis.  He and his brother are blowing off a little steam while Willis is on his bye week.  Back to business next week. Week 9 Ranking Week 9 Ride Em Or Hide Em

Cards to get taste of 'special' Lambeau setting

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Paris Lenon was a Green Bay rookie in 2002 when he received his Packers indoctrination. Every year at training camp, the club has a tradition featuring kids bringing their bikes to Lambeau Field, sticking pegs in the back-wheel spokes, carrying a players helmet and hitching a ride across Oneida St. to the clubs practice facility while 250- and 300-pound players pedal...

Fantasy Football Week 9 Preview: Cardinals at Packers

Arizona: The Cardinals hit rock bottom in Week 8, getting shellacked by the 49ers right in their own back yard no less. Of course the road doesn’t get any easier, as they pay a visit to Lambeau Field and the suddenly clicking Packers. The Packers are playing better defense than they did last season, ranking 13th overall in yards allowed per game and are second with a total of...
