Green Bay Packers NFL Draft prospect profile: LB Sean Porter
Sean Porter, LB Texas A&M
6-1, 229 pounds
Hometown: Schertz, TX
40 yard: 4.75
News and Notes:
Sean Porter’s story is much like another less known linebacker coming out of a big college program that Packers fans have gotten to know over the last couple years. Like Clay Matthews III, Sean Porter was overshadowed by his peers in college; instead of Brian Cushing and Rey Maualuga it was Von Miller and current prospect Damontre Moore. With so much talent on the field at linebacker both Matthews and Sean Porter ended up playing everywhere, from traditional outside linebacker to the “joker”/”elephant” positions. Porter in particular started out as the “joker” in the 3-4 and then moved both strong and weakside linebacker in a traditional 4-3 after a defensive scheme change in his senior year. Both Porter and Matthews probably deserved to get more credit c

2013 NFL Draft
Every draft season, I put together a last minute pre-draft post with some predictions and things I’ve heard. In both 2011 and 2012, there were a few gold nuggets in there that came to be; Derrick Sherrod, Randall Cobb, Casey Hayward, BJ Coleman, trade predictions, etc.
Rather than make you wait until just before the draft, this year I’m going to whet your appetite...
Aaron Rodgers and Clay Matthews
Through free agency, Ted Thompson’s Green Bay Packers have been Ted Thompson’s Green Bay Packers. Deafeningly quiet.
But in the coming weeks, the Packers will look to lock up their two most important players—Aaron Rodgers and Clay Matthews.
According to the Green Bay Press-Gazette, the Packers are closer to a deal with Matthews than they are...
Green Bay Packers general manager Ted Thompson doesn’t spend much in free agency, choosing to find his talent through cheaper channels such as the NFL Draft.
As teams battle each other to out bid for the ‘flavor of the month’ Thompson sits back and retains his own key players. It’s clear when you look at a team’s books if they are just giving money away without worrying...
Charles Woodson was once a perennial Pro Bowler with the Raiders and Packers, but now he can’t seem to find a job.
Why is such a highly decorated player not even drawing a sniff of interest from NFL teams? Woodson, who would be entering his 16th pro season, says his age is scaring clubs off.
“I’m 36, so of course I’m considered ancient in the game right now, and teams are...
Could the Packers and Clay Matthews be close to a contract extension?
Reports are trickling out that the Packers and Clay Matthews are close to a new deal that will pay the linebacker more than $13 million a year in new money.
Matthews is 26 and has 42.5 sacks in four seasons with the Packers. He’s been the Packers best all-around defensive player and is often the Packers only...
Free agency hasn't exactly gone like Charles Woodson expected.
Nearly two months after being released by the Green Bay Packers, the 36-year-old defensive back is still without a team. It doesn't appear that interest in him around the league will be increasing anytime soon, either.
"Nothing substantial; I am just waiting around," Woodson said Friday morning on NFL...
When the Green Bay Packers released Charles Woodson six weeks ago, sentiment around the league was that Woodson would not be unemployed for to long.
A month or so later and Woodson has still found no takers. Woodson though isn’t naive, and told NFL AM that he’s unemployed because he’s old.
“I’m 36, so of course I’m considered ancient in the game right now, and teams...
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Three of the four dates aren't official yet, but the Green Bay Packers announced their preseason schedule Thursday afternoon.
The Packers will open at home against the Arizona Cardinals, with the game set to take place sometime between Aug. 8-12. Then, Green Bay will travel to St. Louis to take on the Rams between Aug. 15-19.
The one date that is confirmed...
Seeing as Charles Woodson has no takers right now, and with the thought that he still has a few years left in the tank, should the Redskins kick the tires on him and put him at free safety? Woodson hasn’t garnered much attention in free agency, which to me is surprising. Maybe Woodson’s asking price is too much but that hasn’t been reported. “For the right price,” the Redskins...
The Green Bay Packers have a ton of money to dole out, and some big decisions to make this off-season. As we’ve reported on a daily basis, the Packers and quarterback Aaron Rodgers are getting closer to a mega contract.
You can now add the name of another Green Bay star that the team feels it needs to lock up. Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that Matthews will get a new...
