The Washington Redskins traded their No. 6 first-round pick in last year’s Draft, their first-round pick this year and next year, and two second-round picks to trade up to No. 2 in the first round of last year in order to draft their franchise quarterback, Baylor University’s, and Heisman Trophy winner, Robert Griffin III.Franchises that get this pick right when they get the opportunity to pick this high can see their fortunes go to unseen heights. The New York Giants got themselves out of a 20-year funk, and put themselves on track to win two Super Bowls over the next 10 years when they drafted linebacker Lawrence Taylor with the No. 2 pick in the 1981 NFL Draft. Conversely, the New York Jets drafted wide receiver Johnny ‘Lam’ Jones with the No. 2 pick of the 1980 Draft. Ten years later, the Jets were taking Penn State running back Blair Thomas with the No. 2 pick. We are going to look at the 10-worst No. 2 picks since the 1950 NFL Draft. Pro-Football-Reference.com’s Career Approximate Value measurement will be used to rank the draft picks—the lower the CarAV, the higher the player will rank on the list. Pro-football-Reference.com's CarAv analytic is explained as follows:Career Approximate Value (CarAV) - career approximate value, (approximate value [AV]--This is pro-football-reference.com’s attempt to put a single number on each player-season since 1950 so that we can, very approximately, compare across years and across positions). Compute the Career AV by summing 100% of the player's best-season AV, 95% of his second-best-season AV, 90% of his third best, and so on.  The idea is that the Career AV rating should weight peak seasons slightly more than "compiler"-type seasons. Please note we have not included the No. 2 picks of the AFL drafts from 1960-1966.Please leave a comment if you disagree.SOURCES:Pro-Football-Reference.comESPN.com
