The NFL has handed out multiple fines for last Thursday night’s game between the Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills, none of which involve quarterbacks Brian Hoyer and EJ Manuel who were forced to leave the game with knee injuries following hits from opposing defenders. #NFL fined #Bills RB Fred Jackson $7,875. Was called for unsportsmanlike conduct in second quarter vs. #Browns last Thursday. — Nate Ulrich (@NateUlrichABJ) October 11, 2013 #NFL fined #Bills S Aaron Williams $21,000. Was called for unn. roughness in 1Q last Thursday when he hit #Browns WR Davone Bess in helmet — Nate Ulrich (@NateUlrichABJ) October 11, 2013 #Browns LG John Greco fined $7,875 for face mask during Bills game. No fines for hits on QBs Brian Hoyer and EJ Manuel. — Scott Petrak ct (@ScottPetrak) October 11, 2013 The hit on Bess extended a Browns drive that would ultimately lead to a score. Apparently, no fine was levied on the hit that forced running back Chris Ogbonnaya to leave with a concussion. Multiple members of the Buffalo Bills stated that the Browns defense was “classless” following the injury sustained by Manuel after he was hit by free safety Tashaun Gipson. Gipson, who celebrated the hit mid-game, stated that he was unaware of the severity of the hit he placed on Manuel who was attempting to extend a third-down run. Most reports suggest that Manuel will miss 6-to-8 weeks with sprained knee while the Browns will lose Hoyer for the season as he is expected to have surgery to repair a torn ACL later this month.
