Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator may be in some hot water with the NFL Just when you think the bounty gate stuff was out of the NFL, League spokesman Greg Aiello said that the Titans are being investigated for recent comments from Gray. He told NFL.com: “We are looking into it. Players and coaches are accountable for playing and coaching within the rules.” Jerry Gray is under investigation for some recent comments (AP Photo/Mark Humphrey) When asked how Gray motivated his defense he tipped a cap a bit too high when answering the question by referencing a “Gator Truck”. The “Gator” is the cart used to haul players off the field after an injury where they can’t walk off themselves. “If you are worrying about that, you are not going to go out and try and blow the guy up,” Gray told the Tennessean on Thursday. “Great football players have to put that out of their mind. You have to say, ‘This is my territory between the numbers, and if you throw the football you better bring the Gator truck.’ And that’s how you have to play. You can’t play timid in the NFL.” Probably not the smartest thing to reference in a year where more players have been carted off to injury through the first four weeks than any other. The NFL let Gray know that they’d be digging into what he had to say, and he later apologized for his comments, saying he probably used the wrong words when the question was asked. “This is football, but my choice of words under the circumstances was probably bad,” Gray said. “If I could take that part of it back, I would. I don’t want guys thinking about injuring people, and when you say ‘Gator truck’ that’s probably what comes up. I just want our guys to be tougher.” Maybe he meant nothing by the comments and no program exists, but the NFL is sending a clear message. If there is any doubt they will look into anything that has to deal with player safety. The post NFL investigating Titans for Bountygate II appeared first on DOWN & DISTANCE.
