After what will be a nine-day hiatus, Rex Ryan and owner Woody Johnson will address reporters on Tuesday to wrap up the end of the Jets season.
The coach was not available on Monday when the players cleaned out their lockers and spoke to the media for the last time this season. The wait will make the Jets in violation of a league policy, which states in full:
"Every team is required to 1) open its locker room for player interviews the day after the season ends and 2) hold a news conference during the week following the end of its season with its head coach, and/or owner, and/or club president, and/or general manager. The purpose is to respond to fan interest in the conclusion of the teams season."
According to league spokesman Greg Aiello, the NFL is looking into the situation and the Pro Football Writers Association filed a formal complaint.
According to the fine folks over at Deadspin.com, the Jets head coach is in the Bahamas.

Rex Ryan is taking a much needed vacation in the Bahamas with his wife, and while the Jets head coach was catching some rays a NY Daily News photographer snapped a photo of Ryan sporting a tattoo of what looks to be his wife wearing nothing but a green Mark Sanchez jersey. I’ll just let that soak in for a bit. Here’s the photo with said tattoo (via the NY Daily News), and if...
The New York Jets announced that their season-ending press conference will be held on January 8th. That’s a big problem since the NFL requires teams to conduct their press conferences within one week of the season being over. The Jets are in fact in violation of the NFL’s media policy and I’m sure they’ll receive a fine.Deadspin found out that Jets head coach Rex Ryan...
Rich Cimini of ESPN New York writes that ”the word on the street” is that the Jets have been telling GM candidates that they will not be considered for the vacancy unless they’re willing to keep head coach Rex Ryan for a year.
Cimini takes a look at who could be the next general manager of the Jets. Tom Gamble of the 49ers, Tom Heckert formerly of the Browns, Marc Ross of...
The New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan was involved in quite the dilemma. Later in the afternoon Ryan spoke with his team, and completely disputed that claim, [...]
As you should know by now, Rex Ryan is off vacationing in the Bahamas while some folks in the Jets organization are losing their jobs.
For a brief moment, no one knew where Ryan was headed when he skipped town. But as soon as the tabloids in New York learned his whereabouts, it was just a matter of time before there were photos of Ryan relaxing by the pool.
But what the tabloids...

Ryan and owner Woody Johnson will meet with the media on Jan. 8. The season ended Sunday, Dec. 30.
The Professional Football Writers of America lodged a complaint with the league on Wednesday.
Although Tony Sparano remains as the New York Jets offensive coordinator, it is being reported this morning at head coach Rex Ryan wants to replace him with another former head coach that was just fired, Norv Turner. There has been a complete media blackout by the Jets organization since the end of the season, and reporters have not been able to ask Ryan any direct questions. Ryan...
Rex Ryan will return as New York Jets head coach next season ….why? This is maybe one of the worst moves the Jets could have made this early in the off-season. If the Jets couldn’t think of any reason to fire this clown than here is one, Rex Ryan, yes the [...]
After catching a glimpse of Rex Ryan‘s arm tattoo, his bizarre calf ink suddenly looks less insane.
All of Ryan’s hard work this season — one that saw the Jets go 6-10 — is paying off, as he was spotted Thursday catching some rays down in the Bahamas. One glimpse of the sunbathing coach, however, revealed that he actually has more body art than originally believed.
We know you’re sick of New York Jets news, who isn’t? Especially with the east coast bias and ESPN’s Tim Tebow bias, but this is just too weird and funny. The NYJ are just like they were in 2010, the Blue Mountain Statesque frathouse of the NFL and they keep giving us material.
This new picture of Rex Ryan is sure to conjure up images of the infamous foot fetish videos of years...
The motive behind Rex Ryan sticking behind Mark Sanchez as the Jets’ starting quarterback this past season is becoming more clear. The New York Daily News has posted images of the Jets head coach with a visible tattoo of his wife wearing nothing but a Mark Sanchez jersey. Furthermore it’s now being mentioned that in [...]
We at Down and Distance have discovered the reason behind Mark Sanchez not being benched until late in the season for the New York Jets!

The New York Jets have made a collection of intelligent decisions since their embarrassing season ending loss in Buffalo. Firing Mike Tannenbaum was a much needed start coupled with hiring Jed Hughes to lead the search for the team’s new General Manager. Credit Woody Johnson for recognizing he is not a football expert and needs assistance in selecting the proper person to run his...
