RGIII impresses in preseason debut. What teams essentially look for out of a rookie quarterback making his NFL debut (preseason or otherwise), isn’t that he completes most of his passes or leads his team on a touchdown-scoring drive. Those things are nice, of course, but what is most important is that the young signal caller has command of the huddle, displays composure, and is calm throughout. Robert Griffin did all three of those things as well as completing 4-of-6 passes for 70 yards and a touchdown in his NFL debut on Thursday night. He also showed rapport with Pierre Garcon and took what the defense gave him when dropping back to pass. Granted, the Skins relied on a run-based offense and kept Griffin’s passes in the short-to-intermediate range. But it nevertheless was a promising debut performance by a player that has high expectations to succeed right away. Ryan looks like a different quarterback. It’s expected that Matt Ryan look comfortable in preseason. He’s entering his f...

Denver Broncos Vs. Chicago Bears: Analyzing Peyton Manning

Here was Peyton Manning's final stat line by the end of the Broncos' first preseason game in Chicago: 4/7 for 44 yards, 1 interception and a 36.3 passer rating. If you read that stat line without watching the game last night, you'd think that Manning had an off game. In fact, you'd probably think he had a terrible game. From watching the tape, Manning did look...

Is Matt Ryan Noticeably Bulkier: A Very Serious Grits Blitz Investigation

Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan spent the offseason going full beast-mode in the gym to to gain strength to turn his downfield passes into near-deadly lasers.  Reports are Ryan has five to seven pounds of muscle, a weight gain so great it was likely aided with Weight Gain 4000 (BEEEFCAKE).  Other than the likely barrage of obnoxious Facebook posts about how many chin-ups Ryan...

Ryan 'feels great' with 3 preseason games to go

As he prepares for his fifth season as starting quarterback of the Atlanta Falcons, Matt Ryan is grateful for all the rest he can get. The Falcons' coaching staff films each pass Ryan throws in practice before and during the season to give the team an exact number of the wear and tear on his right arm. It's an approach Atlanta started in 2008 when general manager Thomas...

Eli: Peyton is better quarterback

Eli Manning says that brother Peyton is the better quarterback. There wasn't a debate in the past, but there may be one now.

September victories critical for Denver Broncos 2012 success

Denver, CO. How good, and pleasantly strange, was it to see Peyton Manning taking snaps in live action last Thursday night? For all Denver Broncos fans, it finally had to really sink in that signing Peyton was not a dream. Although he didn’t look perfect, he did look very close to his old self, slingin darts like he has so many times in the past. This year has so many expectations...

Here’s Manning, the Bronco

For the record on August 9, 2012, Peyton Manning stepped onto Soldier Field in the uniform of a Denver Bronco. While the uniform may have been different, the number and acumen were the same. As odd as this may appear to football enthusiasts, Peyton looked like he hasn’t lost a beat. On the field for only [...]

Eric Decker, Peyton Manning clicking in Training Camp for Broncos

Eric Decker and Peyton Manning reportedly have great chemistry in Training Camp, much better than him and Demaryius Thomas. This makes a lot of sense because Peyton Manning loves crisp route runners with reliable hands, rather than pure athletic freaks like Thomas like Tim Tebow did. With Peyton Manning likely to show diminished arm strength this season at age 36 after 4 neck surgeries...

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly: Denver @ Chicago 8/9/12

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly By Eric Judd   Broncos 31 – Bears 3   The Good   Yeah, I got this. Broncos Oline. It was hard not to like what the Broncos did in this game. Peyton looked good. His arm strength might not be 100%, but his control of the offense was obvious and it is clear the broncos have the inside track in the AFC West. The best part of this early pre-season...

Julio Jones a budding superstar

The opening snaps of the NFL preseason has come and gone and the main headlines of Peyton Manning looking sharp, Ryan Matthews and Michael Vick injuries have already been discussed in articles and blogs around the nation. That being said none of those storylines are what caught my eye on the first night of the preseason. The Matt Ryan to Julio Jones connections did however...

Which Atlanta receiver are you taking?

Which Atlanta receiver are you taking? One team, two great wide receivers. Which one are you drafting? The Atlanta Falcons are in a great position offensively. Matt Ryan has two receivers that are top 10 talent, easily. At WR1 is the veteran and staple of the offense, Roddy White. Opposite him is the physical freak that is Julio Jones. Jones could arguably be the WR1 on at least...
