News surfaced overnight that former Oakland Raiders quarterback Jamarcus Russell is attempting a comeback to the NFL. Another former quarterback with a short career is planning a comeback as well, former Miami Dolphins QB Pat White. White is three years removed from the NFL but showed up this week to meet with NFL executives attending the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama.
After leaving the NFL, White tried his hand at professional baseball. His baseball career with the Kansas City Royals minor league system last just a few months.
White believes he can make a return to the NFL. White told the Palm Beach Post, “I’m still young. My legs are with me. I’m like a 2009 model with about 4,500 miles on it. It still runs just as smooth.”
With several teams employing the read-option offensive scheme, it’s possible that he could get a tryout as a backup with one of those squads. There is a downsize with White however, he has a very small frame.
