The Minnesota Vikings are already in London, England practicing for their game against the Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday. The game, which is part of the NFL International Series, features two the league’s winless teams. Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier told reporters this morning that starting quarterback Christian Ponder was limited in practice while dealing with a rib injury.
Ponder told USA Today that Matt Cassel might be the Vikings quarterback this week. “Ponder says he threw in the walkthrough. “If I can’t fulfill my duties, then Matt’s going to step in and play,” via Tom Pelissero via Twitter.
Both teams will have a bye week after playing in London.
The introduction of Cassel to the Vikings offense might be the jumpstart they are looking for. Ponder’s performance has been sub-par in the first three games. The FSU product has thrown for 691 yards, two touchdowns and five interceptions while being sacked 10 times.

The Pittsburgh Steelers will have first-hand knowledge of Matt Cassel if he ends up starting for the Vikings, but the Steelers have proved to be one of Cassel’s toughest opponents.
Today Josh Freeman was benched for Mike Glennon, but it could get more difficult for Freeman. Tampa’s Fox Network is reporting that three teams that could be interested in Freeman are Jacksonville, Minnesota or Cleveland. @ODonnellFox13: Look for Jacksonville, Minnesota or Cleveland to make a play for Josh Freeman. I personally would love to see […]
Tom Brady still has a close relationship with a lot of his former teammates, especially the quarterbacks. That may have led to him letting some private information slip on Wednesday.
Brady revealed during his weekly press conference that former Patriots and current Minnesota Vikings quarterback Matt Cassel might be starting for the Vikes in London this weekend.

The New England Patriots are the most stubborn team in the NFL when it comes to providing information about injuries. Bill Belichick infuriates writers and reporters with his refusal to give progress updates, thus leaving them with nothing to write about. So what do you do when you’re on a team with a coach that […]
Patriots quarterback Tom Brady keeps in contact with his former back up Matt Cassel. He told Albert Breer of the NFL Network that it looks like Cassel will start this week after Ponder suffered a rib injury this past Sunday.
Tom Brady was talking about his backup quarterbacks, and said "Matt Cassel, who may be starting this weekend …" Ponder has a rib injury.
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder expects to start against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday in London despite a rib injury.
Ponder, injured early in last Sunday's 31-27 loss to the Cleveland Browns, emerged from the Vikings first practice in the U.K. on Wednesday confident that he will play at Wembley Stadium.

WATFORD, England (AP) -- Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder's playing status for Sunday's NFL game in London against the Pittsburgh Steelers is in doubt because of a rib injury.
Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said that practice on Wednesday will "be a big signal in what direction we'll have to go," with a decision expected by Friday.
The Vikings are hoping Christian Ponder can do more Thursday and Friday than he did Wednesday and will likely delay a decision on their starting quarterback until they gauge Ponder’s progress. Plus, the secondary remains a big concern with injuries.
As if the Vikings needed any more bad news, Christian Ponder is reportedly ailing with a rib injury he suffered in a loss to the Browns. Furthermore, he doesn't exactly sound confident in his ability to take the field on Sunday in London.“If I can’t fulfill my duties, then Matt’s going to step in and play,” Ponder said, according to Tom Pelissero of USA Today. The Matt...
Well, I thought things had begun to turn for quarterback Christian Ponder, at least according to the feedback I was receiving on Twitter (@mnbrianhall).
The outrage over Ponder's struggles continue and the fans' feelings were well known as he was booed each time he took the field last Sunday. But my Twitter followers had begun to turn their anger to the entire team and questioned...
The Vikings are off to a not so hot 0-3 start and the fans are understandably turning their anger towards QB Christian Ponder. Even though he had a couple nice athletic TD runs yesterday, fans don’t view him as the answer at QB. However, their star RB Adrian Peterson believes it’s unfair:
“I got his back. He scored two touchdowns and kept us in the game,” Peterson said...
Vikings fans were angry and booing Christian Ponder off the field after failed drives. Leslie Frazier isn’t inclined to make a change yet, but with the Vikings owners in attendance Sunday in the Metrodome, they had to have heard the booing of Ponder.
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder isn’t very good. Doesn’t take an NFL expert to realize that. Even before he was drafted in the 1st rounds (way too high) I always thought his ceiling was at best a game manager. In the mold of Mark Sanchez with those AFC Championship Jets squads. The Vikings are 0-3 […]
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder revealed Wednesday in London that he sustained a rib injury last Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.
Ponder said the rib injury occured early in the game but he was able to play through it. He will be limited during the Vikings’ walk-through today.
Despite showing some flashes of promise in the first quarter, the Minnesota Vikings (0-3) were unable to hold their own agains the Cleveland Browns (1-2), stumbling to defeat after yet another series of head-scratching gaffes and miscues. Inconsistent offense The Vikings came out of the gate firing on all cylinders. Quarterback Christian Ponder completed four […]The post Minnesota...
