Chip Kelly is quickly assembling members of his Philadelphia Eagles coaching staff. Former Cleveland Browns head coach Pat Shurmur is rumored to be tapped as the Eagles offensive coordinator, and now word surfaces of a possible defensive coordinator. Howard Eskin believes that the Eagles and Chip Kelly will hired current San Francisco 49ers defensive backs coach Ed Donatell.
Eskin reports on Twitter, “2 NFL sources and another report have #49ers DB Ch Ed Donatell likely 2 B #Eagles DC for Chip Kelly. Kelly knew Donatell as DC at U of Wash.”
There has been no official request made by the Eagles to the Niners in order to speak with Donatell as of yet. Philadelphia will likely have to wait until after the Super Bowl.
BEST OF MAXIM
The biggest roster decision Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly will make this year is deciding who his quarterback will be. Though most people believe it will be a draft pick, there are others who think it will be Michael Vick or Nick Foles.
I’m going to throw another possibility into the mix…Joe Webb, the backup Minnesota Vikings QB.

A new head coach means that change is afoot everywhere with the Philadelphia Eagles organization. There are huge questions surrounding the supporting cast that will surround Chip Kelly. It appears that the offensive coordinator piece is in place, with former Cleveland Browns head coach Pat Shurmur reportedly joining on with the Eagles.
The move marks Shurmur’s return to Philadelphia...
Chip Kelly has yet to name a defensive coordinator. As noted yesterday, Kelly and the Eagles appear to be hiring defensive...
The Philadelphia Eagles wanted their man, and they apparently felt he could be theirs for the right money. Chip Kelly spurned them once, opting to stay back in Oregon, but the Eagles wouldn't take no for an answer and upped the ante last week, offering to make him on the highest paid coaches in the NFL, a league source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Excuse me Mr. Banner, step away from the hater-tots.In a statement made to Peter King in his Monday Morning Quarterback column on SI.com, Banner says quote:We removed ourselves from the process. We really liked Chip. He’s intriguing, a very different thinker, and very smart. But you could see he was uncertain what he wanted to do. He may be in Philadelphia 10 years or longer and...
It looks like the 49ers might not be able to keep their coaching staff intact place after the Super Bowl.
The 49ers dodged a bullet when all the HC openings in the NFL got filled, which meant that OC Greg Roman will stick around for at least one more season.
Reports are coming in from the Philadelphia area that current defensive backs coach Ed Donatell has a good shot at becoming...
