Ben Roethlisberger was not  fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers hiring new offensive coordinator Todd Haley from the start. He cited a change in offensive philosophy as well as Haley’s checkered past with some of his quarterbacks and other key offensive players. Roethlisberger wanted to continue to run things how they have since his arrival, and he felt that hiring Haley could disrupt that. Through the first five games, the Steelers are just 2-3, although they rank as the seventh best team in the NFL in 2012 in passing yards per game, meaning Roethlisberger would appear content with how the Steelers have performed through the air to start the season. Guess again. “Haley’s offense is not a big-play offense,” Roethlisberger told TribLive.com. “It’s kind of a dink-and-dunk offense.” Roethlisberger is at his best when he is scrambling and able to make plays. We saw that during the team’s loss to the Tennessee Titans on Thursday Night Football over a week go. It was a game that the Steelers w...

Big Ben frustrated with Haley’s ‘dink-and-dunk’ offense

When the Steelers tabbed Todd Haley as offensive coordinator, replacing the oft-criticized Bruce Arians, it was thought he'd bring along with him a pass-happy, downfield attack, utilizing quarterback Ben Roethlisberger's big arm and the troika of weapons surrounding him. But it hasn't been the case. Pittsburgh currently employs the No. 17-ranked offense and has failed...

Ben Roethlisberger Rips Todd Haley’s Offensive Approach

Keith Srakocic/AP The Pittsburgh Steelers are no longer known for their intimidating, game-changing defense they once had. Any chance the Steelers have of being successful and making a deep playoff run will come off the backs of their offense. The only problem is that Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger doesn’t feel the offense is explosive enough right now to do such a thing...

Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger Calls Todd Haley's Offense "Dink-And-Dunk"

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback had some interesting comments about offensive coordinator Todd Haley's offense on Friday. There have been questions about how the Roethlisberger-Haley marriage would work and some of Roethlisberger's comments make it appear he is not really happy with the offensive game plan.. “Haley’s offense is not a big-play offense,” he told Joe Starkey...

Onward Steelers; Show Me Some Fire!

I’m to the point right now where I really don’t want to hear anymore about scheme or play-calling or injuries or if Ben is mad at Haley or if out throwbacks are really that ugly (yes they are). Instead, how about we see some fire and intensity from this team? How about someone get in the face of a teammate and say, “Let’s go! Get your S#@$ together and block that guy or cover...

Bengals fall to Steelers, lose third straight

CINCINNATI (AP) -- Ben Roethlisberger threw one touchdown pass, and the Pittsburgh Steelers overcame their injury-depleted running game to beat the Cincinnati Bengals 24-17 on Sunday night. Shaun Suisham kicked field goals of 42, 47 and 42 yards, and the Steelers clamped down on Cincinnati's Dalton-to-Green connection, holding it to one completion. The Steelers (3-3) won on...

Steelers Get A Much-Needed Win, But Much To Work On

I’m not sure who received game balls last night in the visitor’s locker room at Paul Brown Stadium, but I certainly hope guys like Willie Colon and Heath Miller received one. I would also make sure coaches Todd Haley and Offensive Line Coach Sean Kugler got one as well. It was obvious they knew Mike Adams was going to need help at right tackle and they were able to devise a plan...

Steelers-Bengals Live Blog, First Half

The blending of volatile dickish personalities of Todd Haley and Ben Roethlisberger compels weekly updates on their working relationships from the media. Through six weeks of the regular season, it had been without major incident. So far, the most significant clash was the admission by THE BEN that he had been at times using plays from the Steelers old schemes under Bruce Arians...

Steelers back in the fray with win

The Steelers are 3-3, tied in the wildcard race with three other teams, and it has to feel great. After losing games they shouldn't lose, the Steelers have taken a decisive first step in the right direction by topping the Bengals 24-17 after trailing early. Ben Roethlisberger was his usual self, throwing for nearly 300 yards, but the big story was third-string-running-back...

All Is Fair In Fake Cramps & Disallowed Timeouts

There will be a good bit of talk this week concerning the phantom cramp that Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders suffered with about 6 minutes left in the game Sunday night against the Cincinnati Bengals. It was obvious that the injury was faked so that the offense didn't have to burn a timeout following the sack of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who had gotten...

Tortoise & Hare: Cincinnati Starts Fast, Pittsburgh Slow & Steady
