PLAYERS: Geno Smith
TEAMS: New York Jets
The NFL Players Association is investigating Jay-Z’s role in recruiting NY Jets rookie quarterback Geno Smith to join the rapper-turned-sports-agent’s new sports management firm, Roc Nation. Here’s the issue according to NFL.com: Jay-Z, who is seen in this Instagram photo with Smith, isn’t an NFLPA certified agent. Smith’s Roc Nation agent is Kimberly Miale. She is an NFLPA certified agent. In 2012, the NFLPA instituted a "runner rule" that prohibits certified agents from having colleagues or friends who aren't NFLPA certified agents present for recruiting meetings.
